No doctor or medic in the crew?

All I saw were engineers and pilots and a biologist. Shouldn't there have been a doctor in the crew to attend to the people if the need arose?

Good movie anyway.

I don't think space missions routinely have doctors. A doctor would take up a lot of room/resources which are limited on a spaceship.

Maybe not if they are staying at the ISS for a few days, but a deep space mission that takes well over a year with a bunch of people would defo need a doctor or a medic, maybe even with a psych major I'd imagine. They're exploring uncharted territory and would need all the help they can get if some illness (physical or mental) came upon one or more crew members.

One would think maybe each crew member would have been given some some fundamental medical training of some kind rather than one individual with more training.

Like how on submarines, individual crewmembers specialise in specific things but rotate around doing different peoples' jobs over time so they can help/take over when needed.

Yes it was, but it flew under the radar.
