CGI?

Burton said in an interview that they used little/to no CGI?

How truthful is this claim?

Or is Burton pulling a Spielberg-Indiana Jones and Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull here?

reply

It's a combination of practical effects and CGI.

reply

It's mostly practical.

I think the only things that would require CGI would be the sandworms (the stop-motion always looked fake to me) and maybe something normal humans or prop rigs couldn't do. CGI could also be used to "fix" any flaws in the practical effects, such as wires or a prop not being where it's supposed to be, etc.
