Are you confident this will be good?

Considering the all the actors have returned, I expect this to be at least good, but I doubt it will be great.

reply

I don't have much confidence in sequels, but I do hope it will be good.

reply

As good as 80 year old Rolling Stones on tour. Will the movie be sponsored by AARP, also?

reply

Old Rolling Stones is still better than most young bands.

reply

💯

reply

I assume you've seen them a few times lives.

reply

Actually, just the once before Covid happened, at The London Stadium (Liam Gallagher was support). They were immense!

reply

You got Charlie Watts before he died.

reply

Yes, I was really fortunate.

BTW, I have a Ron Wood portrait of Charlie Watts, which I won at a charity auction about 15 years ago.

reply

I said this 2 weeks ago and got slammed for it, but Ron Wood > Keith Richards.

reply

As a portrait painter, yes.

reply

No, as a guitarist. What he did with Faces was better than anything Keith did with the Stones.

reply

I'm hopeful. I think if any sequel has a chance of doing justice to the first, this one does.

reply

I'm just happy everyone is back including Rob Reiner directing.

reply

Oh, absolutely. I wouldn't be interested if any of them were missing.

reply

No, just hopeful.

Very few long-awaited sequels are good, although with so many aging rockers still being surprisingly popular, it's not like real life is offering the team nothing to work with.

reply

This is a mockumentary so I think it's a little harder to mess up considering most of it is improvised anyway.

Good point, especially if you've ever seen the outtakes on the Criterion DVD. There was at least an hour's worth and NONE of it was very funny.

The original film, and hopefully this one, represent the "best of" by masters of improv comedy

reply

It could be.

reply

No. they are way too political now and judging from their last album, they've run out of talent.

reply

I don't think they'll interject it in the film.

reply

Hope not, I really do. I've seen just about every Spinal Tap reunion they've done since the original film and they've never been political.

But holy moly that current-day Rob Reiner...

reply

I agree about Reiner. He's become politically unhinged.

reply

prob not, as they are still looking for a drummer.

reply

You'd be surprised how many just spontaneously combust.

reply

agreed, its a surprisingly dangerous job.
