Is there still going to be a third movie?
Haven't heard anything about it for a long time. Did it get axed?

Hopefully.
shareIt's happening! And R.Rodriguez doesn't give a *beep* about flopping or not, he's independent and Spy Kids gave him kilos of money so... it's happening because he WANTS.
shareI assume he will make it soon.
Lose the Game!!!!!!!
No. It bombed. No one gives money to dead franchises.
shareEven though the previous movie bombed in the Box Office, it's very much possible that the final chapter will still happen. Keep in mind that the budget for Machete movies is very low by today's standards - only $10-15 million + marketing per film, so even if it fails in the Box office it can still recoup the costs through digital and video sales post theatrical run. The first movie made a lot of profit which will be enough to finance the sequels on its own. Plus all the Spy Kids revenue that Rodriguez has under his belt. It will be a big blow for Rodriguez not to finish what he started.
shareNot sure, cause this film wasn’t a big financial success.
The post above mentions that Machete pulled a few million over its budget, but movies are more than their budget. There are expenses relating to marketing and such that do not get added into the “budget”
A general rule is that a movie has to double its budget to be financially successful. Machete did not come close
