Danny Trejo Is Way Too Ugly To Be A Leading Actor

Danny Trejo should stick to being a supporting actor. His look is not marketable enough to be leading actor material that gets first name billing in films.

I am not saying an actor has to look as handsome as Ryan Gosling to be top billing leading man material, but damn Danny Trejo looks like he got hit with every branch of the ugly stick. He is not even an average looking guy, he is straight up UGLY AS HELL. He looks like a dirty rapist that is on the run from law enforcement.

His appearance makes him perfect for roles like Machete, not to mention that he can play such parts very well. Plus, I would bet that he can do a better performance in general than any of those pretty boy narcissist ass-clowns like Ashton Kutcher or Brad Pitt - you know, the kinds whose careers would never have existed without their marketable "looks".

I'm sorry, but there are a bunch of idiots on this threads(and you know who you are)

This is meant to be a grindhouse film so hot women(preferable with good [sweaty] cleavage), rugged, rough around the edges badass main character, a ton of violence and explosions, etc etc. Made to attract males as a target audience or fans of trash 80's cinema.

So if you don't like these kinds of films and want Brad Pitt as a leading man why waste your time watching them or just bitching about it here? Him being handsome is not necessary to the film. Go watch a Brad Pitt film or [insert hunk here] if you want to drool over a sweaty male.

Problem isn't his looks its his acting. Steve Buscemi isn't what you call handsome but he's a brilliant actor.. same with Willem Dafoe. Trejo I've never believed in any of his performances, he always acts the same and he's not even good at acting like that

Hes not a beauty queen but his looks fit the characters he is portraying.
Also what does look have to do with people being rapists? looks like your insulting him just for the sake of it.

Too ugly? Too old? When does it matter what someone looks like or their age have to do with anything? Does it matter? An audience is not that shallow...Never heard anyone say..."Oh my, I can't watch this movie because an actor is too ugly or old to tell the story..."

I don't know about other movies where he is the lead, but in the Machete movies it's totally intentional for him being ugly and a bad actor. It makes the movie all the more funny and in line with those old films they're making a parody of.
