Don't yell at me, but I thought the movies ending was going to be predictable in the way that Iris wins and her brother gets the transplant. Honestly, did you really think he was just going to kill himself? My mind was blown and it left me angry.
This is like twitter, responses cant be long as 100.I guess there's no signature
I didnt predict it until the first time she peeked in the door. All of a sudden it all came together.
The whole point of the movie was no matter what decision you make, its gonna have a bad outcome. The previous years winner, a doctor, got himself killed because he couldnt make the smart, sane, live saving decision to let it go and forget about it. The alcoholic won decent money just by drinking, and got himself killed because he just had to stay in the game, then ran his mouth too much and was shot.
All the other players had a similar thing. They might have done alright but one little bad decision cost them everything.
It made a lot of sense that Iris would not get what she really wanted. There was plenty of foreshadowing but like I said, it didnt click until about 2 minutes before the end.
I thought maybe since Shepard was so sadistic she would make it home and the bag would explode killing them both. That would have been a better ending IMO.
Yeah, I thought he was going to do that, for an "ironic twist." It would have been a nice surprise, and in my opinion a better movie, if he hadn't, and instead we had a little exploration of Iris trying to reconcile her relief with her guilt.
USE NEST AND REPLY TO THE PROPER POST OR I WILL KILL YOU DEAD
When she got to his door the thought hit me that hed of hung himself...but they got me with him being on the bed...gave up on the thought that he killed himself lol.
Well I didn't predict it but was not shocked by it. I think a better ending would have him go through with the operation and have her seeing him every day alive and having to live with killing someone for him.
Movies like this always go for the "shocking twist ending"... I don't know exactly when the plot twist ending became a fad, but I think Seven (1995) and The Usual Suspects (same year) probably did a lot to popularize that type of ending. It's pretty much a cliché now, though. As soon as she'd won, I figured "well, he's probably dead from the cancer, or he's killed himself". But then, to be fair, I've seen waaay too many horror movies. }|:op
I think the foreshadowing was too heavy handed and I predicted the brother's suicide about 10 minutes into the movie with all the talk of him being a burden. The further the movie went on about sacrifice and the greater good, the more obvious it became.
I thought he'd have hung himself so it was a bit of surprise to see him just lying in bed, but ultimately it worked out in the end. 😉
