where is this movie filmed?
did they film this movie in chernobyl ?
shareThe credits on this site say Hungary and Serbia, but I've been to Pripyat and I'm fairly sure at least the first part of their tour was shot there. The Pripyat 1970 sign that we see briefly, and the most recognisable icon was the ferris wheel which looked identical - so did the dodgem cars, but they aren't in the same relative position they were when I visited (2010). I doubt the budget would have allowed, and they wouldn't have bothered, to recreate the ferris wheel exactly. The exteriors did look exactly like Pripyat but I suppose the interiors and night scenes were shot elsewhere as the cast often touch things in the film, which you're advised not to do as the dust is radioactive. The scenes in Kiev also looked exactly like Kiev as I remember it. The river looked exactly like the one in Pripyat, which is full of catfish as shown.
sharedid anyone read the mistakes section?
quote
There is one nearly completed and one barely started cooling tower that was to be used for Units 5 and 6 of Chernobyl. The movie shows 3 or 4 completed cooling towers, which is not correct.
so not filmed at chernobyl
I saw those towers - 5 and 6. But what about 1 to 4? It adds up.
Anyway that wouldn't prove none of it was filmed at Pripyat.
seems like it was filmed in this place: Szentkirályszabadja
BUT I'm not sure... I´ve been doing a research about the exact filming locations
I've found some picture on google earth and the buildings resemble those from the movie.
Reactors 1 to 4 did not need cooling towers because the power plant is on a lake instead of the sea and had a steady supply of salt-free water so they wouldn't have to condense and recycle any, they added cooling towers with reactors 5 and 6 as a backup system and also to pull less water from the lake.
Opinions are just onions with pi in them.
did they film this movie in chernobyl? The film is not set in Chernobyl, but in the nearby town of Pripyat.
