Which makes her a bit old to be acting like a flapper, deciding what to do with her life, and lusting after dancers and college boys. And in 1927, it'd make her old enough to be a grandmother, girls married young then.

exactly my response from the very first episode. when you have read the books its jarring to see a totally different age represented in the show, trying to play young and giddy. it doesn't work
shareI enjoyed the newer Modern Miss Fisher series more. The actress has more spark…..this one isn’t just older she just seemed to enjoy always being smarter and better than everyone too much.
And the 60’s look in the new series was perfect for the actress.
“Modern” wasn’t a great series but I sure enjoyed it more. I actually quit watching this one, it got so tedious watching the character every week!
