Freaking loved it!!!!
So good. Best Marvel film.
shareThis was truly one of the best superhero sequels of all-time. It's right there with X2, Spider-Man 2, TDK and soon to be Captain America The Winter Soldier. (Yes, I know the future)
Some minds are like concrete. Thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.share
Everyone should check out that 4 minute preview just released of Captain America The Winter Soldier. Awesome.
shareI loved that preview and even the "bad guys good guys" clip on youtube.
Anyway, this movie was so much fun that it must have been a slap in the face to all the haters. That's why all the praise STILL drives them nuts.
At least everyone agrees that the FX and action were absolutely amazing.
shareTDW lacks the charm and light on it's feet adventurous vibe of the first. I'm literally BAFFLED by the low rating for this and the overall highly positive reception of the sequel. TDW has no real personality of it's own. It's a meandering film without much to engage aside some decent acting and a good action scene or two. Thor feels oddly stuffed to the background of his own film and he barely gets to do anything cool. On an objective level the CGI of TDW is superior but the world of Asgard in the first is so much more vibrant and colorful. Who gives a flying f--k about a fantasy realm in the clouds looking "lived-in?" Really? I'll take the gleaming, shimmering vibrancy of the first film over the muted, darker GOT copycat setting any day. Better action? There is no sense of choreography to most of the action in TDW-no flow. It's mostly just Thor showing up to bash one or two badguys in the face and that's it. The only worthy action bit was the raid on Asgard, and that lame because nobody of importance was really involved in it until Frigga got knifed. It's just CGI ships flying around.
I hear people praising the final fight as awesome and creative. Huh? In concept it sounds awesome but they utterly FAIL to capitalize on it. Thor and Malekith just tumble through a few generic landscapes (in extreme wide shots by the way) before Thor trudges through a giant red cloud of magic to deliver a final blow that you barely see. Nothing in TDW comes close to the Jotenheim fight in the first. Hell, or even the stripped down emotional brawl at the end between Thor and Loki.

It looks like you've posted this same comment on two different threads. Rather than double post, I responded with my own thoughts on the other thread: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1981115/board/thread/228043912?d=228103008 #228103008
shareAgain, I wonder is people like the OP still savor this film because Agents of SHIELD has kept Asgard right up front in the MCU?

Better than Shaft?

a first look at Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) company name and logo!
Maybe Thor Ragnarok can take the title from Captain America next November?
