Is Marvel on the greatest roll any studio has ever been on?

Iron Man 3 turned out to be a massive treat that most everyone enjoyed. It certainly kicked box office tail. This film is simply wonderful and is loved more from the true fanboys than IM3.

Now that this movie is at $330 million in the blink of an eye, it's even more fair to ask is Marvel on the greatest roll any studio has ever been on? I can't remember when a studio produced this many quality hits in a row with no misses whatsoever. I know they are smaller compared to the big guns (producing only two films a year)but this is one impressive streak. Not only in terms of box office but in terms of quality. Every film has been good to great. ALL of their efforts have been "fresh" with the critics.

How long can this continue? Certainly Thor Dark World hit it out of the park. Captain America The Winter Soldier seems to be getting the best buzz of them all. That preview attached to the Thor 3D was as amazing as it gets.

Is Guardians of the Galaxy the weak link?

Pixar has had the greatest roll for many, many years. Now it seems like they would have the greatest misses for many, many years.

reply

Pixar would be one..

I have no idea what the total box office numbers are but Marvel is on one hell of a roll... 4 Spider Man movies, 3 Iron Man, 2 Thor, 2 Capt America, 2 Hulk, 7 XMEN, Shield TV Show, 2 Fantastic Four, 2 Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy will now be tied in somehow.....Im sure I missed some but geez... that is quite the run.

They are even going to their crappy super heroes i mean Ant Man? That will probably make 400 million...

OHHH GOOOD FOR YOU!!

The Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and one of those Hulk movies don't count.

reply

This makes two bigtime hits yet again in one year for Marvel. Not only great box office but simply great films as well.

reply

Marvel can do no wrong it seems. We'll see if that holds after Guardians of The Galaxy. Right now, that movie does look like a mess.

I accept your surrender.

I wonder how much Fiege has to say about the TV side of the business? He's such a busy man that I bet he's completely hands off there.

The Disney Stock keeps saying YES! DIS is very well endowed thanks a lot to Marvel.

reply

Buying Disney stock seems like the thing to do. I just read that their dividend payment is going to increase a lot next year as well as all the Marvel hits still on the horizon.

reply

I had to look it up. Today (12/18) DISNEY is priced at $72.20.

That's huge.

reply

Oh yes! That is exactly what one should do.

reply

Look at all the news just this year alone. Captain America owned the Super Bowl. Age of Ultron casting is all the buzz the last few days. Guardians 2 is being talked about and that's before we've even seen a trailer.

reply

If Cap 2 crosses the $600 million mark there can never be any doubt again.

reply

Try 700 million!

reply

The hits just keep on coming.

reply

Yes, yes they are.

Ant-Man on the cover of EW and setting the Net abuzz tonight screams... OH BABY!

The latest projections has Age of Ultron making over $200 million domestic opening weekend. Can it take down Avatar overall?
