Great Film, Great Fun

Thor The Dark World was everything I was hoping for and quality entertainment from opening scene to the last. The director presents the entire film in a way that can be savored. Many aspects are just plain old fun kick-butt action scenes. It’s a perfect blend of action and humor and yet it still remembers to pack a heart. The pacing was perfect even though I would've liked to have seen more quality time spent between Jane and Thor. That would've added more credibility to the chemistry and longing they both display for each other. Besides a few minor shortcuts in story, this film packs quite a punch and is every bit as good as I hoped it would be.

Just like Iron Man, they played both sides of the fence perfectly. You need know nothing about the character to enjoy the film yet the fans were respected and spotted the little things that service the story but don't really register to non-fans. There are heavy ties to the events of Avengers but since everyone saw Avengers, that’s a good thing.

I think this sequel is very well written and proves the character and the mythos have layers to explore. They can't jam everything from the past forty years in to one film but they delivered enough smarts to go along with the spectacle to be sure.

I feel Loki was written brilliantly. The "trust my rage" line actually perfectly summarized Loki's motives in this movie. For me, that truly cemented my opinion of his anti-hero/villain arc as one of the best in recent cinematic history. The connotations of the film's ending truly making this the resolution I am most looking forward to in Phase 3, discovering whether , and where that leaves Loki as either a redeemed villain, or a vindictive, genocidal, murderer with a single revenge-fueled good deed. The fact that the ultimate trickster Loki teams with Thor for one trick and used that illusion to add more deceit is amazing. Thor was looking for betrayal yet Loki crafted it where Thor helped him escape his cell, avenge his mother and gives him the throne of Asgard. All the while, getting Thor to give heartfelt praise for his actions and his honor. To me, that's brilliant.

No better charcter that I saw in 2013.

I would say exactly that. YES.

Merry Christmas To all.

I accept your surrender.

reply

And now a happy new year to!

reply

I love that they are keeping it hanging around the biggest theatres even in to the new year.

reply

Now this is how you do a sequel. Pulsating off the first film but not being a slave to it. They also ran with the events of Avengers but how could they not given the Loki factor?

reply

This film still makes me dance a happy dance.

No matter what sort of adversity or challenge Marvel might face, you can always believe that, with hope, it can be conquered and, in the end, Marvel will be stronger for it. These trolls are barking up the wrong tree here.

reply

Yet I see them trying to bark all the time. I rarely ever read their diarrhea of the mouth/keyboard, however.

reply

hy wouldn't they just admit as much?

reply

Thor could bust a move on any character at any time.

Says a guy who rated 'Half Baked' 10/10.

I think the older you are, the better you liked the film. It's a smart action movie and smarts with their fun just isn't for everyone.

reply

Really, this film isn't for children or those with limited intellect. The smarter you are, the more you will enjoy it.

reply

A movie this good should be savored.

reply

Great googley moogly.

reply

Takes one to know one.

reply

Yet, in the mist of all the fun there was great pathos and even heart rendering tragedy. That's the sign of a great film, sequel or otherwise.

I accept your surrender.

Marvel is the avenue to the heart. 

Ya, damn good movie I think.

Cult Leader my mind's frightening, I drink blood from a human skull like a Viking

reply

That's the thought of most people really. This is very well loved.

reply

The events here makes everyone long for Avengers Age of Ultron but also makes me wonder if they can possibly top this in a Thor 3.

reply

I think Captain America The Winter Soldier has raised the bar yet again and a few notches higher at that.

reply

It's not like this movie didn't have some of the best moments of the entire year last year, however.

reply

Most of us think that.

reply

Great googilymoogily.

reply

That's all I was saying originally and now.
