Tired of movies that try to be vague

I had questions about certain things, especially towards the end. Sick to death of movies trying to be thought-invoking. Especially when you consider your movie isn't good enough to get people talking about it anyway. It's either that, or someone sucks at writing. If you make it clear, more people might wanna see it. That is usually the ultimate goal, I assume.

The cinematography is stunning. Dark and creepy. Not a place I'd wanna stay at.

Saw this some time back, but I don't remember anything being unclear about it. It's actually quite straight forward, if I recall.

Spoilers below:

A cop who was supposed to be sacrificed as a baby (something he's not aware of) is tricked into going to the monastery where he was saved as an infant. As he investigates, he realizes the symbol on his skin matches the symbol in the demonic prophecy for the Chosen One. There, he's also tricked into eating the flesh of seven sinners, which fulfills part of the conditions outlined in the prophecy.

At one point a monk with nefarious intentions, who's engineered the situation, arrives.

At the end the cop partakes in drinking the blood of an innocent (I don't recall his motivations for doing so, but this could be a weak point in the story), completing the prophecy. But when he doesn't transform into a demon as expected the evil monk stabs him and throws him in a well that's allegedly a gateway to Hell. A few hours, or perhaps a night, passes (I don't recall exactly) and the cop wakes up in the well and turns into the demon. He then emerges, kills the evil priest, turns everything upside down, and a massive "hellhole" opens up.

The world is doomed, the prophecy coming to fruition.

I'm a little removed from this movie, but your post brings some things back. Thanks for your response.
