Hair does not have DNA


Hair is made of protein. It does not have any cells or DNA, except at the root. But Athena puts the middle of a strand of Casey's hair on her sensor, which is somehow able to scan the hair's (non-existent) DNA.

Yes, it's a truly geeky complaint. I actually love this movie.

Hair shafts DO contain mitochondrial DNA, but not nuclear DNA.

Thats true, but if its pulled from the root and takes some skin with it which it does most of the time, then there is your DNA.
