was he supposed to be a pedophile?

George Clooney's character hangs out with a high school girl and a grade school girl, the latter being a robot, which he cries over when she professes her childhood love.

I'm not suggesting that anything happened sexually--but were we supposed to think that maybe he was still hung up on his childhood experiences with her that he was a pedo?

These comments are killing me here.

I'm starting to wonder what's worse. Actual pedos or people who see pedophilia in everything.

No.

For two reasons:
1) Casey was a high school age girl by your own admission. She drove a motorcycle, which means she was 16 or older, and in many states the legal age of consent IS 16, so were that the case, anything to happen, it would simply be consensual. Maybe a little creepy, but not illegal.

2) Athena was a ROBOT, not a living being. Sentient, perhaps but not human. Therefore, how could any relationship be construed as pedophilia when the object was NOT alive?

Oh, you can add this in as well: "Pedophilia" occurs ONLY when the child is prepubescent; after puberty, but under legal age of consent is called "ephebophila."

So the OP is wrong on EVERY count.
