Battle Royale is overrated crap

Its about time to call out these *beep* To those *beep* who keep ripping The Hunger Games as a Battle Royale rip off.

Battle Royale is a rip off of The Running Man, The Worlds Most Dangerous Game and so on.

The Hunger Games Trilogy will always be better then that overrated crap.

I am the first to say that without Robert Sheckley, there would be neither The Running Man nor Battle Royale. Battle Royale however put an interesting new spin on the idea of lethal TV-Shows, as did Series 7. The Hunger Games now took both these new ideas and copied them verbatim. If that isn't plagiarism then what is?

Ah Noobie, you forgot all the 'similarities'.

All the characters use their mouths to speak.
All the characters are either male or female.
All the characters wear clothes made of fabric.
All the characters eat food with their mouths.
All the characters use their teeth to chew the food.
All the characters walk on legs.
All the characters breath air.
All the characters listen with their ears.
All the characters feel with their hands.

The list of similarities is truly staggering, and what else is truly staggering is how much this list of similarities has in common with other films. You don't think Takami ripped off other films besides 'Wedlock', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Spartacus', 'Lord of the Flies', and 'A Tale of Two Cities' do you? I have to be honest, I'm having my doubts about 'The Warriors' lately. After all it about a gang of young people on the run, with an all seeing, all knowing disembodied person pronouncing how they are going to be killed. She doesn't have a camera on them either. It's spooky I tell you just how much BR just lifted tropes right and left without so much as a by your leave. Why it's almost as if these tropes and themes were free for anyone to use...oh wait...

verbatim.
Proof that you are a troll or you never watched the movies.

You mean the other novels had a girl named Prim and a sister named Katniss who volunteered to substitute for her in something called the Hunger Games? That's what "copy verbatim" means -- "in the same words".

Yes, "copied verbatim" is plagiarism, but that isn't what happened here.

reply

Oh, it's very possible. Look at 'Olympus Has Fallen' and 'White House Down'!

reply

But BR is better than THG and original.

Lol only butthurt Hunger Games fanboys would say Battle Royale is crap. They probably haven't even seen it.

CG GORE IS THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THE HORROR GENRE!

reply

OP is kinda an idiot. THG is pandering slop for pre-teens. Every single theme in this film is BEATEN into the audiences heads without mercy. There is Zero Subtlety in the whole film and the acting by MOST of the cast is either boring or god awful. BR is not a perfect film, and the second one is pretty crap due to an appalling second half, but it was a far braver, more intelligent and less pandering to dumb viewers

Says a guy who rated 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' 8/10.

That literally has zero relevance to my comment. Seeing as you had to resort to looking through my profile in order to find some petty reason to insult me, it only goes to show you can't successfully argue against my point relating to the actual topic and instead resort to childish retorts that make zero sense. I think LOEG had plenty of fun moments and is under-rated due to fanboys having a tantrum about it not following Moore's novel verbatim. Yet it is a flawed film which I gave an 8 due to my much younger self trying to rectify the films unfairly low rating. Sure it doesn't deserve an 8, but I rated it years ago, and I still enjoy the film whilst acknowledging it's flaws.

However, even if that was my favourite movie ever, how does that invalidate my opinions on the Hunger Games? You see how dumb your argument is when you add the slightest bit of thought?

Also, Hunger Games is no fun, it's pretentious, it's dull and repetitive (the 1st and second film are the same thing happening in the same order) and its themes are not only unoriginal and have no subtlety, they pander to the lowest common denominator. So even the dumbest pre-teen girl/boy are aware of the by-the-numbers 'social critique'. The characters are all one dimensional and the 90% of the dialogue is just bland exposition blatantly telling the viewers exactly what is happening so every idiot in the audience can keep up easily.

Also, YOU GAVE THIS MOCKINGJAY AND INTERSTELLAR A '9' AND DRACULA UNTOLD AN 8!!!!!!!!! JESUS CHRIST ARE YOU SERIOUS? AND YOU ARE BAGGING OUT MY RATINGS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!

Well I guess the same person who likes to be pandered to with the hunger games will also like being pandered to with Interstellar. I'm seeing a pattern where you like films that are easy to understand and have zero subtlety or unique themes.

That entire post of yours only further renders you into a hypocrite thanks to your ratings that include 'The Matrix Revolutions' and 'Knowing' 8/10.

reply

Ummmmm.... how?

reply

Someone has to truly ask the question does turning Battle Royale 2 into an English language film or a series of films really work.

Probably not. It's a silly movie, about military officers who kidnap juvenile delinquents and send them on dangerous missions so the officers won't get hurt. Why are you asking that on this site?
