OMG. SHUT UP ABOUT BATTLE ROYALE
we get it. we totally do.
shareWell if it makes you feel better I don't think anyone could say the sequel to Battle Royale was better than this sequel to The Hunger Games.
Oh yes, there was a sequel to Battle Royale and it sucked chocolate salty balls.
Anyway, while I did feel the story of the Hunger games was heavily inspired by (or derivative of) Battle Royale, this sequel actually reminded me more of Rollerball (the original, not that abortion of a remake in which they forgot all the context).
As for Battle Royale vs Hunger Games. Well perhaps BR is too shallow, but all the Hunger Games films are far too long and really could have been a lot shorter without sacrificing depth, in fact it would have enhanced the impact of the depth that is there. Of course fans of the book will no doubt disagree, but I've not read them, so I can only comment on what I feel would make better movies. Very few films actually need to be over 2 hours long, I really hate the modern trend of making films unnecessarily long, it ruins the flow of the narrative. While I don't regret watching these films, I doubt I'll re-watch them. I probably will re-watch Battle Royale one day.

i was about to say the same thing... the HG vs BR argument is still going strong on the HG page but this is an entirely different film. for anyone interested my review of the hunger games sums up the similarities (having watched both back to back and having no interest in the books, as we are talking about films) and is here http://wp.me/P5v36W-4g but catching fire is actually an ok movie and we should be discussing it not its predecessor's faults.
shareOMG. SHUT UP ABOUT BATTLE ROYALE
Thank you! these dumb idiots need to stop talking about the similarities between battle royale and the hunger games! at least it wasn't rated 18! these is literally not that much similarities between them! just that there is fight to the death but not rebellion against the government! thank you XD
shareI started watching through the HG series just yesterday, and came here afterwards to see
if anyone had anything interesting to say and I'm ALREADY SICK of this "Battle Royale" crap.
Even if the BR fanboys are 100% right about Collins copying BR, they're still 100% wrong
for being so obsessive about it.
The BR freaks need to get a goddamn life.
I was waiting for a comment like this. Thanks for making it...
I believe what ever doesn't kill you, simply makes you...stranger The Joker
Battle Royale is NOT ORIGINAL. AT ALL.
The Most Dangerous Game-1st story of a man hunted by another man on purpose for sport. Plenty of other examples. Stephen King had the Running Man if you want the game show version of the same thing.
Culture existed long before your own lives, kiddies. Learn about it.
