i saw the movie last night...i was quite disappointed...the only good thing was the excellent perfomance once again by phoenix and the good performance by renner...
as for MARILLON COTILARD...probably the most overatted actress of her time!! in all her movies has the same depressing, flat boring look!! and always talk quitly..like mumbling!!
she is now on top of my list of the most unlikable actresses(she got u Keira Knightley)

You are 100% right, Sahos. I was hoping Marion's bland, whiney, BORING Eva character would commit suicide 1/2 an hour into it - - similar to Jennifer Lawrence's frowning, stomping, gravelly mumbling performance in Winter's Bone. The dialogue between Marion & Orlando was so Lifetime Movie/90210-ish. Total 2 1/2 hour train wreck.
Lots of plot holes. So we're supposed to believe that Eva's sis wasn't raped on the boat as well and that none of the sardine crammed passengers witnessed it. If everything is so perverted, then why doesn't the uncle jump on the chance to let Eva stay with them? Was there seriously that much gossip between Ellis Island and Brooklyn? How in the world did Eva keep any customers with such constant negativity? Were crowds at those performances really all about throwing rotten food at the hookers on stage and calling them nasty names? Silly me - I was thinking it would be more of a strip club atmosphere with bouncers where guys actually "wanted" to get with the girls.... The fire escape window just happened to be unlocked for Orlando?
Marion's features are common in that she has plenty of look-alikes in practically every community out there with that sort of skinny, "BettyBoop-cute" look - - but certainly nothing that would make Sahos and I learn how to spell her name or ever want to see her in anything again. Is it truly that difficult to do a mumbling Polish accent? Surely she could tell from reading the screen play that Eva's character would be a huge waste of her supposed talents.....but she took the part anyway.

I'm Polish and I have to say i'm really amazed by how well she speaks Polish in this movie, it's like incredibly good for a non native speaker, our language is really hard for foreigners and she speaks almost like she was born in Poland, really, that good.
