Carrie is supposed to be unattractive, odd, weird looking.....like the hauntingly bizare looking Sissy. Castinf the beautiful Moretz was a bad move. She's a fine actress but she is NOT Carrie. It's like casting Channing Tatum as Harry Potter.
Absolutely. I know there are a lot of girls that are beautiful and are still bullied in school but it was impossible to take her seriously in the role.
Sissy is that kind of girl that would have been bullied. She's beautiful but in a unique way.
They said that Megan Fox was also in the running. Pahleeze.
Sissy Spacek was actually very pretty. See her in "Badlands" or "Prime Cut". She just has unusual looks, which makes her more pretty in my opinion than a typical American barbie doll. They mostly just needed an actress who was old enough and brave enough to do a frickin shower scene. They really muffed that scene up (ironic pun intended). The movie got off on the wrong foot and it never recovered.
Chloe Moretz isn't that bad. Gabrielle Wilde and Portia Doubleday are awful though. They make Amy Irving and Nancy Allen, basically a couple of "Hollywood director's girlfriends" look like master thespians (I said "thespians").
It would be interesting for them to do a version of this with an ORDINARY-looking girl. She doesn't have to be ugly; just not insanely hot.
