Bad Casting

Carrie is supposed to be unattractive, odd, weird looking.....like the hauntingly bizare looking Sissy. Castinf the beautiful Moretz was a bad move. She's a fine actress but she is NOT Carrie. It's like casting Channing Tatum as Harry Potter.

reply

Sissy was so perfect in the original. As you say a perfect face needed for the role. Re makes are usually none starters.

reply

No. Sissy was awful. Not to mention her accent was Just horrible. Carrie is not southern.

out of here, troll-Momma is calling and those corns aren't gonna shave themselves

reply

Shut up.

reply

Like hell she was. Sissy sucked.

reply

you mentioned that. now go love your frowner.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

I would agree, but which actress would you have cast?

reply

I would probably have gone with an unknown. I can't think of many mainstream actresses who have the look required for a Carrie part.

reply

Yeah.

reply

Chloe was wonderful. I'd cast Kristen Stewart. Still would.

reply

Agreed entirely. I found it impossible to believe Chloe in this role

reply

Absolutely. I know there are a lot of girls that are beautiful and are still bullied in school but it was impossible to take her seriously in the role.

Sissy is that kind of girl that would have been bullied. She's beautiful but in a unique way.

They said that Megan Fox was also in the running. Pahleeze.

Even Dakota Fanning would have been better.

reply

Tbh I would have wanted someone closer to the book.

I just reread it and she's really fat in it cos she overeats cos she's miserable.

Instead we got a sodding cheerleader. -_-

reply

No. The casting was spot on. Much better than the original.

reply

troll alert-Chloe, is this you? Take some acting lessons!!

reply

Shut the hell up.

reply

No. Perfect casting. Fact. Final.

reply

Please dont go full tard

Carrie is NOT ugly in the book. Chloe's looks didn't bother me. Her acting did.

reply

Sissy Spacek was actually very pretty. See her in "Badlands" or "Prime Cut". She just has unusual looks, which makes her more pretty in my opinion than a typical American barbie doll. They mostly just needed an actress who was old enough and brave enough to do a frickin shower scene. They really muffed that scene up (ironic pun intended). The movie got off on the wrong foot and it never recovered.

Chloe Moretz isn't that bad. Gabrielle Wilde and Portia Doubleday are awful though. They make Amy Irving and Nancy Allen, basically a couple of "Hollywood director's girlfriends" look like master thespians (I said "thespians").

It would be interesting for them to do a version of this with an ORDINARY-looking girl. She doesn't have to be ugly; just not insanely hot.

I agree for Irving but not Portia Doubleday. She saves the day for me. Her character is extended and more believable so is the acting.
