I liked original Carrie and 2002, no one get out but Carrie. They trapped in gym and they died.
Carrie 2013 too many people survived from gym. But Carrie locked all doors and some people sill alive. I was confused... :/
Probably only about a dozen people. That was the case in the book and the 2002 telefilm. It is commonly said that everybody in the building died in the 1976 film, but that was never actually said in the film.
It's probably more realistic that there were a few survivors. You don't have to be a criminal to know there are more ways to get out a building than the door. Especially since in all versions, Carrie leaves before everybody in the building is dead.
I think it was a last minute re-shoot to soften the film's content at the behest of Sony. They shot the scene outside the school where we see virtually all of the prom attendees escape alive into the loving arms of paramedics and firemen after the production wrapped, and much of the prom massacre beforehand was trimmed to match the new scene.

In this version, like in the book, Carrie seems to be in control and is specifically targeting those that were in on the prank.
I like both ideas, but I prefer the more tragic feel of the original where so many innocent people died because of this stupid prank.
This is something I was disappointed by. It would have been more honest to the tragedy of story had they not shown so many if the survivors. If we had gotten more carnage footage of the town being destroyed instead of having the survivors spelled right out in front if us, the film wouldn't have felt cheapened.
shareYeah, it really lessened the impact of the film for me. I finally watched this tonight, and was surprised that it wasn't really that bad. Didn't feel that necessary either. But when the prom scene finally got rolling, it was fun to seen them going gonzo with modern effects. But then they really dialed it back. Turned it from an all out total nightmare tragedy into a typical revenge flick where the victim protagonist only meets out justice to those who wronged them. Meh. Anything special the movie had going on was lost at that point.
I get why they did it. The parallels in this story to school shootings is plain as day. As such, they shouldn't have wasted their time attempting this story in the first place. Not in this day and age.
