Has anyone here cyber bullied someone?

Just curious. If you have, I'd love to know why.

I've been cyberbullied twice that I know of (haha), but I haven't cyberbullied anyone.

The first time I was 16 or 17 and it was all because some people I worked with (back when AIM and AOL were popular) put up away messages saying to visit some site. So I went and looked at it. It was a rumor site about stuff about the managers and owner of the workplace. One of the managers and I were really close and when I read the thing about him (they were saying he slept with underaged girls even though he had been in a serious and committed relationship for years when this supposedly happened), I just mentioned it in passing. He then got very serious and asked where I had heard that and I told him I read it somewhere and he kept asking me where. So I finally gave in and told him (although like I said, the makers of this web site had been advertising it to everyone and even one of the other managers was in on it).

Anyway, so he found out and let the owner in on it and my manager was told to do some digging and to make an account (to access chat boards and stuff on this page). Later one of the other people who worked with me told the creators of the page that I told and they began a hate chat saying I was a sl*t and wh*re and stuff like that. Every time I would get online multiple people who were on the board would begin IMing me hurtful things. I would just block them and didn't let it get to me. Eventually the web site was shut down because the owner threatened to get the police involved (dunno how that would work but it scared the crap out of them) and they were all fired, except the manager who helped make it (how he got out of it, I don't know).

The second time it happened it was actually my MIL who began cyberbullying me!!! My husband had just graduated boot camp and we got married right after. His family accused me of not allowing him to tell his family (even though the night before he and I both had a conversation with them on us getting married, and the day of, as he was getting ready he told them and they just said ok, sat on the couch, and watched TV). So, a week after we got married (and he went off to SOI) his mother began posting on my FaceBook, asking why I was such a hateful person who kept him from his family. I responded maturely, saying I didn't know what she was talking about and that I didn't hate any of them like she was accusing me of. A week after that she began harrassing me on my page again, saying she had to find out from FB we got married (she called my husband the day we got married to say congrats and wished she could've been there but couldn't because she lived 8+ hours away).

My MIL then began saying I trapped my husband into marrying me, I tricked him, I forced him to join the military, and I controlled him. Then after posting stuff on my page, she went on my SIL's page and posted things about me, posted things on her own page, and even joined a page called "I hate you (insert my name here)" on FB. The SIL also joined. I finally deleted her from my page and she began messaging me saying I was cruel and a horrible person and I was taking her son from her. I eventually blocked her because of it. Ha, actually she and the rest of my in laws are still posting nasty things about me online!

It got bad when she began telling anyone and everyone how horrible I was and implied I was a sl*t. She told her kids and their bfs/gfs and at the time I was living at my BILs house that he shared with his gf and whenever they would bring people over theyd narrow their eyes at me and you could tell it was me they would begin whispering about. Anytime my in laws would call each other, they would stand near me and talk loudly about how wrong I was or if they wanted to be "discreet" about it they'd say something to the effect of just a minute I need to switch rooms. I would get dirty looks all the time. And I would've just left the house when they started that except I had my 2 kids with me and couldn't just leave. And when I was able to drive away they'd block my car in the driveway so I couldn't. If it wasn't them it was my BIL's gf's family who would and they'd say something like "Oh...that's who she is..." and it got to be a lot.

Finally I was stationed with my husband and we cut them out of our lives because of things like that and I don't look at their FB walls. What's funny is my husband doesn't get the cyberbullying thing. It really sucked. And yes he stuck up for me (they then would deny anything that was said, would blame it on me, then would tell each other I was destroying the family and tearing them apart and that I wouldn't let him do anything), but there's also only so much he was able to do 2000 miles away and only getting limited contact with anyone.

I have been cyberbullied. Some girl at my school made a hate page about me and asking some pedos to kill me. But she got taken out of school and investigated by law enforcement etc

I was cyber bullied and retaliated by doing some bullying of my own. It started out rather tame, just me explaining that a fan fic I wrote would not be continued because my b i t c h of a EX GF had left me high and dry in an apartment I couldn't afford with no remorse whatsoever. Then she said stuff about me on her fan fic account (which is no longer active) then i went after her, she came after me, it got worse and worse until lawyers actually came into play and we were both legally compelled to take down everything we had said in an online public forum. I guess we are both to blame for what happened, but i won't sit back and say I didn't push buttons on purpose when she will to this day claim to be totally innocent.

When in doubt, God prays to Hoffman.

(And yes I am FEMALE!)

Since when did "slut" become the worst thing to call someone?

reply

I don't think I have, but I think there's at least 1 person who would say otherwise. Nor have I been cyber bullied. When I was younger, I would take everything to heart when I'm just engaging in an internet "debate" with someone. But then I learned not to take everything on the internet too seriously. Plus, I am pretty lucky to not experience cyber bullying in my school growing up since the internet wasn't so ubiquitous back then.
