My freshman year was. My friend started talking about me and making rumors to my other friends. They all stopped talking to me and talking crap behind my back. It got around and they made my life hell.

Not really. The first high school I went to was one that was really hard to get into, so everyone there was pretty smart. It was nothing like that. Then I moved and was forced to transfer to a school full of ghetto, annoying idiots and it STILL wasn't like that. I don't know if any school is like that. I think on TV it's way exaggerated.
shareYup.
4-5th grades: Bullying from various students. One in particular was this twat named Nina. Everyone found out later that not even her parents could handle her as she ended up at military school! Her little sister had to transfer schools and was really upset about it. i don't know what happened to her.
Sophia: Bully plain and simple. Also a fair weathered friend. As with Nina things must have been bad at home and she ended up killing herself when she was a teenager.
Highschool wasn't much of a problem...oh wait. It was.
Or rather my parents' church was. The HS/college group are awful. They all pull the high and mighty act but will bully you to and behind your back. i hated the two years i was in that group.
College was ok. my second English professor was a she-devil and there was this black girl in the same class who would adresse me as "whitey" never mind using my name! i never said any racial slurs to her

I went to a weird school district where in elementary and high school there was very little drama and even if someone didn't like you they were at least polite. Freekishly weird right?
But Middle School was like a hormone feuled war zone. Okay it wasn't really THAT bad but there were some nasty kids that saw weaker kids and tried to go for the jugular.
My middle and high school experience was similar to this. Thankfully social media didnt exist back then. Instead, I got harrassing notes and phone calls.
shareI attended junior high and high school back in the mid 80's to 91. We didn't have cell phones or the internet. There was some bullying going on (particularly ridiculing someone who was "different" or regular playground stuff), but it was nothing like it is now. People spread rumors etc.
My son has recently graduated from high school. Yes, junior high and high school can be pure hell for some kids who are being bullied. His junior high did nothing when it came to kids getting bullied. There were kids getting spit on, kicked, shoved, laughed at, etc. on a daily basis in the hallways.
About 2 years ago, a band mate he had known since 6th grade committed suicide due to getting bullied so badly (both at a new school and online). She had attended his school district and was in band from the time they were both very young.
She ended up getting into trouble at school, so her parents sent her to a smaller, more rural school about 20 minutes from here. Six months into going to the new school, she killed herself. We found out later the high school students ridiculed and harassed her for being both biracial and bisexual.
She was a beautiful, sweet, very talented young girl who was full of life. She deserved none of this. My point is: suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 10 year olds to 24 year olds. That's a sad statistic. This society needs to wake up and realize this is real.
This type of bullying happens on a daily basis at any type of school. Kids and teens are committing suicide because they see that it is the only way to end the pain they are enduring. Someone who commits suicide is not weak. They are only looking for a way to end their pain.
I really wish our society (including the younger generation) could become more compassionate to this issue. Cruel words can inflict years of pain on a person.
Until we all realize that cruel words can hurt, sometimes much more than physical violence, then our society will continue to become even crueler than it is.

High school is nothing like this.
shareLOL no, but when I was in high school we were still using stone tablets and the wheel had just been invented :P
Actually, I hear this alot though. Teens can be some of the meanest creatures on the planet when it comes to each other. It's sad really.
