Plot????

There was no plot to this movie. It was just strippers. I have no idea how this gets a 6.2 rating on IMDB. I gave it a 3.

If you watched this looking for a plot then you obviously missed the point of the movie. This was purely a movie about watching eye candy. Clothes off or clothes on I can watch Chan and Tatum all day long. BTW there was a plot it was just very mediocre but who really went to see this movie because it looked like a winner?

The point of the movie was the plot, its about Mike, he happens to be a stripper.

the stripping part was the hook you are the fish.

"If you watched this looking for a plot then you obviously missed the point of the movie."

I dont think you are on the same wave length as the director of this film.

"BTW there was a plot it was just very mediocre but who really went to see this movie because it looked like a winner? "

Afeter that statement I wouldnt take any movie recomendations from you based on plot. A person who goes to see 2 hour long movies based purely on seeing a few minutes of skin (or explosions or transforming robots) promised in the trailer is a poor judge of a films quality of plot, acting or dialogue.

lol Honey I don't care what recommendations you would or wouldn't take from me and my comment wasn't meant to give a recommendation. BTW I never said I went to see the movie I would never GO see a movie like this in the theater but many women did and 99% of them did not go because the movie looked like it would have a great plot they went to see eye candy. I clearly know there was a plot I said so myself so what is the purpose of your reply? To tell me something I don't care about and to tell me something I already know?

"If you watched this looking for a plot then you obviously missed the point of the movie."

Again, the plot is the point of the movie as johnc points out. You have got it the wrong way round.

Im sure Steven Soderburgh would agree with me and would be pretty insulted by that line from you above.

" BTW I never said I went to see the movie I would never GO see a movie like this in the theater but many women did and 99% of them did not go because the movie looked like it would have a great plot they went to see eye candy."

I think i can decifer that garbled mess. But again the stripping was the hook, you were the fish. For the most part they got some eye candy along with a watchable film rather than some low grade trash.

"I clearly know there was a plot I said so myself so what is the purpose of your reply?"

Well detected Sherlock. Just pointing out a few details you may have missed.

Plot-the plot of a film is the most important part of the screenplay and is an integral part of the story. It's the main story. It's the engine that drives the story.

Let me break down what I said to 3rd grade education level for you. The plot IN a movie isn't the point(purpose) OF the movie. The point(purpose) OF a movie is the reason it was made such as for entertainment or educational purposes. So like I said, the movie has a plot but the purpose of the movie was to draw in and entertain women with male eye candy. No one watched this movie because it looked like it had a good plot. Women watched this because of the eye candy just like the men watched Coyote Ugly and Striptease. The men did want to see the movie they wanted to see "hot" half naked women.

BTW, who care if he feels insulted? If I was on a panel in front of him I would say the same thing and I am sure he knows this wasn't his best work and he couldn't careless cause he still made tons of money on it.

I watched the film because I like Soderbergh and I expected it to be well made and take an interesting approach to the material. I wasn't disappointed.

Yes, it had plot, but it was more subtle then most films and didnt have a stupid obvious hollywood ending, so of course people complain. The movie's plot is simply to show you what the world of male stripping is like, and how its a an exciting ride for a while, and then people just abruptly get out.

Similiar to porn or stripping, or whatever, people are in and out of those industries usually within 1 year and a half or something and then thats it. And then they go on and have a life and no one ever hears of them again.

Thats why the film ended in such an open and "odd" way with "nothing happening". He was showing you how people just flitter in and out of that world, and what the experience is like when one is in it.

I thought it was a pretty good film, with a decent story, but it is subtle and for someone who is clueless, it will obviously appear to have "no" plot lol

It also deals with dreams, aspirations, and in a way can be paralleled to "Waiting for Godot", how someone is constantly waiting for something that never comes. Its a good film, about subject matter that hasnt really been adressed in many films. I gave it a solid 7.

totally agree with that. I also rated it a 3.

There is a plot: a construction superintendant befriends a transient worker for no apparent reason. He then integrates the man into a troop of male strippers and falls for the guy's sister. That's it, but it's streched out to last nearly two hours by a lot of loud music and even more bare asses. Channing Tatum does some spectacular dancing and is believable, but most of the other cast members are not. I agree with a 3.

I've seen porn movies with better plots than this. Of course it has a basic storyline, but I wouldn't elevate that to a plot. I agree this is NOT a movie for men, but for the girls I'm sure they enjoyed it just fine. Just please don't try and make this movie seem like it has a point beyond showing off bare ass cheeks.

reply

I just saw it and feel the same way. My guess is its just an excuse to see a half naked Channing Tatum, which works for me.

For a Man, this movie is like watching paint dry

reply

That's not true, considering the positive reception this film had with the critics, which generally consists of old, white men.

reply

They're not considered Men, don't compare real men with Old white and gay pedophiles, no straight man would enjoy this movie

It's people like you that hold the world back.

Maybe a 4.5...or a 5...but I was being generous. I just saw it and was pretty unimpressed. At first I thought an interesting story might emerge, but it was pretty much a bunch of stripper performances intercut with not-so-intriguing dramatic scenes that ultimately lost my attention.

reply

yeah! I thought the exact same thing!! I thought the chemistry with Brooke, and Mike was completely off!! it was just awkward seeming! idk... The dance scenes were okay, but other than that, there was no appeal. idk... it was just so blah!
