There was no plot to this movie. It was just strippers. I have no idea how this gets a 6.2 rating on IMDB. I gave it a 3.
I will admit that the film is decent for what it really is which is just male eye candy and that is about it.

I agree with moviewizguy.. I don't know what movie you were watching, but I guess it's like the review says: What your response is is based off what you went in expecting. And you guys were obviously disappointed and probably tuned out because you went in expecting lots of male stripping, and that's all you saw in the movie. Was it like the parents of Charlie Brown?

This movie sucked, there was barely any stripping, waaaaaah!
There was a plot ( i dont know if we can call it that) but it was mediocre and concerning both Channing's and Alex's characters while the actors did a job good...i felt like there was no closure. The movie left us hanging at the end...theres was no twist in the plot. Im there just watching when Magic Mike who a few days ago loved stripping...just decided - okay im out of here. and BOOM movies over!

shareI didn't get what I wanted out of this movie. It wasn't bad, but too PG for me. Nothing happened. All I got was that Mike was a nice guy who gave a kid a chance at getting a good life. I wanted nudity and sex, not just guys dancing around.

Well, no matter what anyone was expecting, certainly a movie about male strippers ought to have quite a bit of male nudity.
I mean, c'mon. Those strippers have to go through a half dozen costume changes a night. At any given moment, half the guys in the dressing room ought to be naked.
Plus, with all the sex scenes, you'd also expect to see some male nudity along with the boobies.
I'm not talking about 110 of nudity, I'm just expecting a natural amount that comes with stripping and sex.

There was no plot. Mike discovered a friend, when he basically saw his younger self in Adam. Then unintentionally imprinted his mistakes upon him, likely scaring him for life. They tried adding something of a subplot but it was structured poorly and failed to explore the character's desicions and motivation for their choices.

Exactly. The story is about wanting something more out of life. Having goals and aspirations, something anyone could relate to. I guess that's one reason why it got positive reviews: Mike is a relatable character. The film isn't about stripping.

There was sort of a plot, the plot was basically character development. I kind of disliked how in the end though Magic Mike didn't step up and help the younger guy. He helped him money wise, but totally didn't attempt to change the lifestyle which he got him into.
it was easy to just skip the stripper parts.
The Kid would have been dead if it weren't for Mike's help. If he didn't get a wake up call after that it's not Mike's fault or problem.
