stupid things people did in this film.........

DISCLAIMER: if any of my entries are incorrect or inaccurate i apologize in advance. i really enjoyed this film and i am in no way bashing it.

1. going to investigate the killers home or property without a gun weapon or ANYTHING to protect yourself...... but worse than anything...going ALONE!!

2. calling the girl back and subsequently getting her killed.

3. not just opening the door once she crawled out of the trunk. i could be wrong but wasnt the door unlocked??

4. walking towards the abductor with a box cutter instead of just opening the unlocked door on your side of the car to release the girl

5. asking your teacher why she isnt answering the phones while she is teaching you.....like seriously.

I don't know who's been more stupid here, Jordan calling back or Leah answering right away when the whole point of the diversion was to have the intruder believe she escaped.

If I was the killer I would have stopped moving for a sec when hearing phone ring but if it kept ringing I would have left.

You would only go upstairs and continue if you had a reason to do so and phone being answered instantly.. Well there you go.

How about kidnapping girls, scalping them alive, and then having them die in your pathetic lair?

This movie was stupid in a lot of ways, but the OP's list is pretty lame:

Agreed... I guess

2. calling the girl back and subsequently getting her killed.
Yes, WE KNOW that was a mistake. They pointed it out and it was why Halle Berry was so upset. It was a major part of the plot. You can only point out that something is dumb if it is ignored as if it was an OK thing to do.

3. not just opening the door once she crawled out of the trunk. i could be wrong but wasnt the door unlocked??
She was stuck.

4. walking towards the abductor with a box cutter instead of just opening the unlocked door on your side of the car to release the girl
The door was LOCKED. He used the car's remote and they showed the door locking. Pay attention if you are going to point out flaws.

5. asking your teacher why she isnt answering the phones while she is teaching you.....like seriously.
TOTALLY AGREE!

to be honest i actually held back because i didnt want to nitpick but if you wanna get bitchy about my list lets go!!

1. why didnt the police tell the killer's wife to call him on the phone when they were at her home???

2. why were no search dogs used once the police arrived at the killer's old home??

3. why didnt halle's character call the police before entering the underground lair???

4. why didnt the girl exit her home when noticing the intruder trying to get in??? why run upstairs??

reply

Maybe this isn't a "stupid thing," but doing it completely took any tenstion I was feeling from the movie and made me laugh...
The killer turned on a tape and started playing Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon."!!!
Of all the music to play, why THAT one (and I like the song, but it sure doesn't fit the mood they were going for in that scene).

lol 'cause Halle Berry told her what to do...

another one was when the lady who saw Jordan waving her hand out of the car trunk just drove right up next to the guy and stared at him. You thought he just accidently left someone in his trunk? It was also stupid for the 911 dispatcher to not warn her about keeping her distance.

that scene at the gas station. i would have waited until a better oppunitiy came about, given that he was right next to the window pouring petrol.

And finally and obviously not having a weapon or something after the discovery of the hatch.
