The ending was SO bad!!

It completely changed the characters.

The killer changed his MO when he wanted to torture Casey and not kill her like he killed Leah.
Jordan went out on the field and when she dropped her phone in the dungeon she made the decision to go after the phone instead of going to ask for help in another way?
Casey was this little cute teenager who cried thinking about what was going to happen and at the end of the day she stabbed the killer with a pair of scissors AND then suggested they should leave him there tied up to a chair?
Jordan agrees to the ideas of a 15 year old instead of calling her colleagues at 911 to report that they have the killer?

Also, now they have to lie saying that Jordan found Casey in the woods?
The police are going to want to know where she escaped from and why does Jordan have bruises on her...there's going to be questions. If by any chance someone will find the killer's body strapped to a chair, will no one take the prints from the chair / tape and other things in the room?
such a bad idea, this ending.

reply

I disagree, I loved the ending.

reply

Agreed!

Not to mention the, what, five scalps in the fridge from other murdered girls who's families is never going to know what happened, or if their bodies has been found, who killed them.

I hate that american (sorry - hollywood...) plots/writing seems to be addicted to this ruining suspense over logic, even in a movie that up to the last 5-10 minutes was pretty good!

I personally think the ending was cut short. It seemed slow and unlikable.
I remember in one scene of the film Jordan discussed to Casey that if she survives they'll go see her favorite movie together, I think they should've watched the film together in the end. It would've been a nice overall touch to the film. WWE studios did confirm a second instalment to the film though.

I thought the movie carried a good sense of realism until it became a "Saw" horror story with the victim being wheeled into the makeshift surgical room.

The ending was stupid, plain and simple.

There are a bunch issues I had with it, many of which were already mentioned in earlier posts, but the biggest of them all was: WHAT IF HE GETS OUT?

How many times did the Joker leave Batman strapped to that giant mattress about to be stitched to death by a giant sewing machine? Or the time the Penguin left Batman trapped in that giant hourglass with the sand filling up?

They left thinking everything went to plan, but were wrong because he escaped.
And these two geniuses give this guy that same opportunity? Wonderful.

If that's your plan, why not kill him and be done with him?
Ending made no sense.

reply

I agree it was a bad ending!

reply

I never got the sense he was an uncanny killer the equivalent of Hannibal Lecter or Kevin Spacey's character in Seven or even from I Know What You Did Last Summer.

reply

I agree, it was intense & effective til the last 15 or so minutes of the movie! Seems they didn't know how to properly end it, so took a note from 70s/80s era dramas...just didn't fit with the movie or the characters in the movie IMO.

Woulda given an 8, but gave a 7 instead.

Haha. What. The. *beep* was up with the last 2-3 minutes.

Made no damn sense whatsoever.

I'd like to know which one of the two girls were brave enough to go back down there sans ladder and start messing with a guy who already raised from unconsciousness once.

the first hour was so tense, i thought it was a decent thriller. sure, some of the stuff that happened was unrealistic or stupid but sometimes you have to let that stuff go to sit and enjoy the ride.

the last half hour was beyond dumb. i get it, Halle Berry is the star so she can't be behind the desk the whole time. i didn't even mind her going to the house but once she dropped her phone and then went into that lair, the move lost me. and the ending was not satisfying. i wanted to see this guy in jail, the victims and their families recovering not the two stars acting like The Bride from Kill Bill

Maybe they did this for a possible part II?Otherwise it has no logic.First of all im 99% sure that the killer escaped and he is trying to find and kill Casey and second, wtf Jordan? Why would she do that to the killer instead of *beep* kill him?And i mean lets be real, the police was so stupid that they could really believe that the killer is gone?I mean they had to check that dungeon or whatever it was...

reply

I agree. The first hour was great but it started heading downhill when Jordan went into the field and hit rock bottom in the revenge scenario.
