Why Kitty as the time travel vehicle?

Even she tells Xavier that he has the strongest brain on the planet . . .

So why is Charles not the one to send Logan back?

I know Kitty was doing it before the rest of the X crew arrived but I thought her power was phasing (passing thru solid onjects). So, where did she pick up the ability to phase a consciousness back thru time?

The comic books have featured something called "secondary mutation", where a mutant has one power, but later in life develops an additional power. You can see this with Emma Frost, who used to be only a psychic. Her "secondary mutation" that came later on was her ability to take on diamond form.

Why use Kitty in such a fashion? Because she was the time traveler in the Days of Future Past comic book, and they wanted to keep her central to the story by using her this way. She may never have had this power before, but if the comic books can feature secondary mutations, then why not the films?

The movie universe is different from the comic books, so Kitty can't go back and occupy her own body in 1973 because she was not yet born. Wolverine was the logical choice in the film series, seeing that he is long lived and his mind can survive such strain simply by merit of his healing factor.

I've been wondering about Kitty's time travel ability too. From what I remembered in the comics and the earlier movies, Kitty's mutant power was the ability to past through solid matter.

Also, could someone please explain to me exactly what Bishop & Blink's mutant abilities are?

" Kitty's mutant power was the ability to past through solid matter."

What? PAST through? What the hell does that mean? Past means something that has already happened, it went past, it's in the past, Days of the future Past, you know.

What the F does this have to do with Kitty's abilities?

You couldn't mean 'pass', could you? There's no way adult mind could confuse such simple english words and concepts just because to a toddler they might sound similar, is there?

So I guess you have a 'Pastport' and you ask people to 'past' you the salt as well? If nothing else, at least you can remain consistent in your weird inability to choose the correct english words when writing a tiny, simple post. What the .. no wonder this world is doomed, if people can't even choose the correct word between 'past' and 'pass'. They don't even really sound the same!

You can SOMEWHAT understand 'their' and 'there', as they DO sound almost identical, but 'pass' and 'past'?

I am curious, if you use the word 'past' this way, when do you use the word 'pass'? Did you reverse these words, because why should you take responsibility for your own posts' legibility, right? You can write whatever you want in any way you want and it's up to the reader to somehow telepathically get what you were ACTUALLY trying to say, right?

What the heck.. six years and you never came to correct your post! SIX YEARS!

In any case, no one can explain ANYTHING to you until you learn to AT LEAST gain enough intelligence to muster the BASIC ability to differentiate between simple english words and concepts. This is not quantum physics mathematical formula or theory, it's the simplest possible english, and yet you fail.

Kitty's power is PHASING, but hollyfkyou wants to distort and re-invent everything, although every change they make is for the worse - the comics are more interesting, inventive and original in their storytelling and ideas. Therefore, 'anything goes' in these stupid cartoony movies.

Heh you say this as if they just had to do it this way. "Wolverine is the only one who can travel this way so they had no choice"

Don't you think maybe it was the other way around? They made the rules just so they could have big time Wolverine and the new hipster celeb cast in the same movie.
They could have used just any means of time travel and have anyone else do it but the point was to have Wolverine with the X playboys.

I think Kitty had obtained a great deal of not really the same but definitely related experience in Inception - in particular the ability to sit for many hours without moving.

It is possibly a reference to the original comic book arc, in the comic it was Kitty who travelled back in time thanks to Rachel Summers. It couldn't work in the film because Kitty wasn't born back in 1973, so it was a consolation prize that she was the catalyst for time travel.

I'd say that besides the fact that she was the time traveler in the original comic and that the secondary mutant power, that maybe in movie universe science it was her because, I'm no scientist here, since her powers allow her to phase through walls or space maybe as she got older she developed the ability to also phase through time. But since she wasn't alive in the 70s they had her send Wolverine like how she can drag others through objects.

you act like its the first time she had time travel powers.

Go read the original X-Men comic
