Dark and Serious

That was the darkest, grimmest, and most frightening iteration of the caped crusader I have ever seen. I think there will be very little humor or light tones if any in this film and I think the genre will definitely be "horror" and "terror" if that genre existed.

Paul Dano kills it with that voice-over Monologue of the Riddler.

I'm looking forward to Dano's portrayal of the Riddler, he is a great actor.

You haven't watched The Killing Joke nor Batman Year One?

reply

Killing Joke was bad, the animation one. They did a poor job retelling that story hence the low score.

reply

I agree, but it is the darkest version of Batman I've seen... which is the subject being discussed at the moment.

reply

Yes, and they both had just a little humor and light tones.

Also, that pummeling at the end of the trailer was excruciatingly and extremely violent even for this comic book character. A beating like that tends to kill a person rather than just knock them unconscious by a one-two punch, even a single punch can be enough to mortally wound.

No wonder her refers to himself as "vengeance" instead. This iteration of the crusader is a cross between rage-fully angry and insanely homicidal.

reply

Can't take Emo Vampire Edward seriously, sorry.

reply

Yeah, me neither, I know I'm in the minority but I won't watch this because I don't like the lead actor.

This Batman reminds me a lot of Netflix's Daredevil (which was actually good).

I'm waiting for Keaton to come back and claim his cape! LOL

reply

You’re an idiot. Pattinson has proven he’s a very good actor with movies such as Good Time and The Lighthouse.

reply

That doesn't matter, he is still playing Emo Vampire Edward in this movie.

reply

No he isn’t, troll.

reply

Look at the make up it is like he thinks he is The Crow. lol

reply

My wife and I watched the trailer tonight. Too much like an emo vampire, even my wife agreed

reply

Frankly the trailer gave me Twilight flashbacks. Especially every time they did close up of his overly serious emo face with that black makeup on. Hell he doesn't even say anything in this trailer. Is he mute.

reply

He only wears the black eye makeup when he is in the suit. This is so that the skin around his eyes is covered the same colour as his suit. He does not have the black eye makeup on when he appears as Bruce Wayne in the trailer.

I get no vibe whatsoever from the Twilight movies from Pattinson in this trailer, and I think anyone who does really needs to learn to let it go.

And he does have lines in the trailer. You probably need to watch it again...properly.

reply

He says “I’m vengeance”

reply

I agree, this might be good, but that's a mighty huuuuuge "might".

reply

Looks pretty good to me.

reply

Really.. so skinny emo-man is the most frighting thing you ever seen. Affleck was killing people with other cars and putting a brand on them. Skinny guy beating up one person is not that frightening to man. Have you read Batman Returns. Its not my favorite version of Batman. But hes was pretty dark, grim and frightening.

reply

Yes I have read it and for a novel version I agree, however, I was referring to the tv/film iteration.
Any vehicular killing batfleck may have committed was never verified, confirmed or shown, besides, hands on manslaughter is more twisted, dark, and personal than dragging cars behind you that may or may not kill. The difference in my opinion is "execution" vs "collateral damage".

reply

Todays generation actors are wack

reply

This is very interesting.

Well, I expected nothing less. The trailer looked exactly how Matt Reeves has been describing the film like, if u ask me. But the darkness and grittiness aside, this film is looking incredible (to think only 25-30% of it has been shot so far).

And not the biggest Dano fan myself, but he does sound great in the trailer (I now feel more optimistic about him). Looking forward to Pattinson’s portrayal the most.

reply

I think this looks absolutely brilliant, has the crow vibe to it
