saw this after Armageddon

ok, this may be a bit random, but there are quite a few parallels
[spoilers ahead]:

- a catastrophic event is about to happen

- while the scientists work on feasible solutions, the politics put pressure for stupid, catastrophic solutions

- explosions 80% of the movie

- an oil drilling crew is portrayed as heroes, you see them in the worst environment imaginable

- there is quite an emphasis put on a sub-story with the loved ones at home

- most manage to come home alive in the end, although some died and huge disaster still happened to planet earth

It's exactly like Armageddon. The oil spill is the size of Texas.

That's all I could think while finally watching this. Oh, this is the dark realistic version of Armageddon which very much portrayed oil drilling as a fun rock n roll experience.
