I too felt that it was pretty flat and lifeless, completely lacking the mystery and atmosphere of the original film.

It was way better than the original film. The original film was decent enough but it was exactly how you describe this film. 😂 2049 was much better. Didn't overdo the effects or action like many god awful but lived superhero shit today. Had actual character moments etc. I don't know what the fuck people expect today. Smh

That's me with every Denis flick. I had to shut off The Arrival 15 minutes in.

He's a superb technician that Denis. However his movies have something of a flat affect. Quite montonous and stuck in second gear.

Still I like him and his movies but he does have a certain tempo that persists in pretty much all his projects.
