This "show" is still on??

Had the misfortune of recently catching a couple of episodes of this trainwreck, apparently one from 2013 followed by one from 2011. I assumed it was a short-lived bomb judging by the terrible writing and acting I saw and was gob-smacked to see that it is still on the air. Yeah, I know, just don't watch it/change the channel/yadda yadda, but honestly how did this show get beyond the first season? There seem to be no real plots and the dialogue is just a bunch of one-liners thrown back and forth that don't advance the story in any way (which I guess isn't a problem if there are no plots). It's like a Chuck Lorre show if Lorre had suffered massive head trauma.

Exactly. This show is an abomination.

Can I refill your eggnog, get u something to eat, drive u out 2 the middle of nowhere leave u 4 dead?

I don't understand how this ever made it to production. Who read this script and gave it a green light? It's as bad as the sitcoms of the 70s. Back then we only had 3 major networks competing for viewers. Now the quality and quantity of entertainment is at an all time high. I just don't understand who is watching this crap.

To you and all the other haters of this show:

S the F up and go watch something else. Some people like this show, because you don't have to think to hard, and like crude humour and sarcasm.

One thing that strikes me is that a lot of people don't like the sarcasm. Maybe you aren't smart enough for sarcasm?

You don't make much sense when you say the show is for those who "don't want to think to (sic) hard", yet then ask if I'm not smart enough for the supposed "sarcasm" in the show. I get it, you like the show, but I don't and it has nothing to do with not liking crude humor or sarcasm--it's because the show, much like your comment, is nonsensical.

Going back to your first post - "Yeah, I know, just don't watch it/change the channel/yadda yadda, but honestly how did this show get beyond the first season?"

Married With Children got 11 seasons. Full House got 8. Family Matters got 9. Three's Company got 8.

A show being popular and/or having a long run has nothing to do with it's quality. All it has to do is make enough money to justify keeping it on the air.

Maybe I should give you a breakdown on how sarcasm works:
Sarcasm is, like stated in the article I linked, one of the lowest forms of humour; it's not too smart to make, it's not sophisticated and overall it's just plane dumb. In that sense you don't have to think that hard.
However, as also stated in the article; sarcasm CAN promote creativity for those who are at the receiving end of it.

So, if my comment is nonsensical to you, you haven't read the appropriate literature I gave you. Maybe you should read before you react. It's in the highlights at the top of the article.

Are you smart enough for sarcasm? I'm just asking b/c you seem to have trouble knowing when to use "too" instead of "to".

You might want to dial it down a notch. You aren't coming off as intelligent as you think you are. 

Snarky comments about a typo from a non-English speaking person? Bravo. Big boy.

And my intelligence is just fine last time I checked, just as my sense of sarcasm. Maybe that should be on the curriculum for children in the US, so they wouldn't take themselves so bloody serious. Take a page from the English, who know how to take themselves not so serious.

I just find it humorous when people make simple mistakes while insulting other people's intelligence.

You can have the last word. You clearly need it more. 

reply

First off....ROFL. Okay, now thats out of the way.

Little C, you really should dial it back some. By the heat you are offering it seems like you are very hurt that people do not like the show. Your comments are rude and border on--wait, let me ask you this: What does

Snarky comments about a typo from a non-English speaking person? Bravo. Big boy.
actually mean? It can be taken that you are saying you are a non-English speaking person or you are slamming "Big Boy" for being a snarky foreign language speaker. But why all the hate. Also, you truly arent making much sense. Now it could be if you are the N-ES I understand a bit more now and it makes sense. (Not a slam, just clarity of the situation.) Why not try saying WHY the show is funny to you instead of detracting from the article by trying to BULLY people that do not find it funny? Again, just my observation of the blah blah going on. Hope you find a better way to explain the show. HAGO. (Have A Good One.)

So many great shows get canned and I will never understand how 2 and Half men got 12 seasons. 2 Broke Girls is awful and people will support the worst garbage.

reply

I agree. I watched two episodes of this the other night and it was pretty bad. The only way I could probably get through this show was to put it on mute and drool over the blonde in her waitress uniform.

I laughed more in the intro of the Big Bang Theory episode (that followed) than I did the two entire episodes I tried to watch of this.

I came here to see if there were actually people who enjoyed this show. I want to study them and see if I can cure them.

(hopefully little_c is smart enough to detect that sarcasm)

Whats really funny about your post is I had avoided watching this show just because it LOOKED like I would not enjoy it or find it within my range of HaHa or viewing pleasure. (Yep it was meant to sound that way FYI. LOL) Im basically confined to bed because of an illness so was watching Live TV via internet. When Charter, in all its glory, mucked up again I went to TBS.com, hoping to find TBBT on and in its 'sted. It took a few episodes but it actually grew on me. The funny thing is I cant understand why you say it has no plot. The plot was given in the very first episode. IF you missed that, this could be why you find it lacking. TWO (following the rules of grammar since I see the GN are on patrol) girls meet each other and a dream comes into being. They want to open a Cupcake bakery, but are flat broke so they have to raise capital to do so, while working at Han's Diner. The shows that follow are the mucked up things that happen to them along the way. Its really no different than Big Bang, which really has no plot per se. Nerdy guys out to get some tail on lucks out and find a Prom Queen? Dont get me work I absolutely ADORE TBBT!!! 2BG actually is a good show, its just not for everyone, but you cant belittle a show you have never watched more than a few episode of, especially if you are unaware of the plot. Its actually relatable to anyone that has ever been young broke and wanted to open a store, restaurant, or like me a bar. But that is why we have so many shows to chose from, so we can all find some that fit our taste.

PS Unlike many, I am human and I make mistakes. Grammar, spelling, no commas, and genuine typos. I can live with my mistakes and so can you. IF there are any GNs (Grammar Nazis)please put your little red pen away before you puncture your monitors, chances are I already know its there, but dont care so nor should you. :P

The 'plot' is obvious - two waitresses / best friends struggling to fund their cupcake business, so they can move into a higher tax bracket and quit their 'waitress' jobs. Much of the dialogue is in service to this premise.
