So where do we rank Roanoke now?
For me it's looking like
1. Asylum (B+)
2. Freak Show (B+)
3. Roanoke (B)
4. Coven (C+)
5. Murder House (C)
6. Hotel (C)
Roanoke is the worst season yet.

Best to worst:
1) Coven
2) Asylum
3) Roanoke
4) Hotel
5) Murder House
6) Freak Show

6. Freak Show (the only season I was too bored with to finish.)
I think Roanoke is the worst of the seasons. The first five episodes were a little intriguing but the sixth episode and on was just tedious.
My rating of the seasons:
1. Asylum
2. Murder House
3. Freak Show
4. Tied: Coven and Hotel
5. Roanoke
1. Murder House
It will take a really strong season to supplant this one. I will never forget the feeling I had when they revealed the daughter was a ghost. Just a great season with a great ending that shows the family finally being happy in death.
2. Hotel
A return to a more serious tone after a few seasons that deviated from it. Scream Queens is the best thing that happened to AHS as it allows Murphy his comedic outlet and AHS returned to its serious outlet with bits of comedy sprinkled in.
3. Roanoke
Just slightly below Hotel but a strong season from beginning to end. Love all the tie ins to previous seasons and love the commentary on mainstream media throughout the season.
4. Asylum
Good season but it felt like alot was going on in it. Even though it is 4th for me this was still a really good season.
5. Freak Show
Above average season that had its moments. Disappointed they killed the clown so soon.
6. Coven
Only season that I would rate as below average. Too much attempted comedy and too much attempted drama took away from the true intent of this series.

But so variable, even within seasons. The first seven episodes of Roanoke put the series in the top three for me... the last three ruined it (awful Sarah Paulson, awful accents, just repetitive). Freak Show at number three purely for the wonderful Dandy. Coven reminded me too much of The Worst Witch / Harry Potter, but maybe I need to watch it again and reappraise. I loved Lady Gaga and Evan Peters in Hotel. Sarah Paulson is one of the worst things about AHS now. I put Asylum at the top for its darkness - it is the only series that really counts as horror I think (Roanoke reached such heights in the first half).
