Do you think this movie is better than The Dark Knight?
If so explain why?
shareI'll just say I prefer The Winter Solider for these few reasons:
1. the title character gets to shine throughout the entire movie
2. the action sequences are terrific and arguably the most well-executed ones in a superhero movie (far superior to the ones in The Dark Knight, not including the truck flip)
3. nearly every character, especially black widow, is handled so damn well
4. the plot is very intriguing
And overall, it's a more exciting movie for me
You want something corny? You got it!

Winter Soldier looks good when you compare it to mediocre movies like Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron. But when you compare it to movies like The Dark Knight, it doesn't stand a chance.
The Dark Knight is an inventive, sophisticated, well-written crime epic that extrapolates ideas of social collapse and the ambivalence of human morals, which it deliberately illustrates through multifarious characters and original storytelling. There is no scene of a naked old man running around at the Stonehenge. There's no fart jokes. There are great characters and a great story.
I wish if MCU movies were as sophisticated and well-rounded as The Dark Knight. The main differences between how Nolan and the MCU execute the source material, is that Nolan focuses on the subtext of the material while MCU focuses only on superficial elements.
But if you compare the storytelling of both, it's obvious that the story from The Dark Knight is more sophisticated and well-crafted. The Dark Knight constantly escalates and intensifies the stakes and the drama. It never stops until it doesn't reach its logical culmination at the end.
Winter Soldier loses its intensity and ambiguity after the hydra twist happens. It basically turns into a typical action movie at the end.
The Dark Knight is more cerebral, ambiguous, thought-out, and original.
To put this into word a simple NO.
THE DARK KNIGHT pretty much beats TWS in everything apart from action sequence. TWS might be the best film in MCU but comparing it with a masterpiece like TDK is pretty laughable.
TWS was a popcorn flick at best but when you compare it with deep and psychological theme which Nolan puts behind every character in this film when each of their agenda starts to unfold then its no brainer.
TWS - 7/10
TDK - 9.5/10
I'm glad you rate TDK so highly, but not all of us do. For me, calling it a masterpiece is an insult to true masterpieces. To reiterate, dark is not the same thing as deep.
In the kingdom of the blind, you're the village idiot.
Listen man ,you really need to evaluate what you think deep means but TDK is full with deep hidden agenda ,deep psychological theme ,deep story telling behind every character ,deep climax and ending and I could go on. Point being TDK is the most deepest superhero film behind Watchmen.

The dark knight indeed beats anything from the mcu. its complex, has interesting real life esque characters, thematically phenomenal villains and a very well directed movie. civil war is great definitely, but i wouldn't say its a phenomenal achievement in superhero movies. its mcu's 3rd best film in their 13 installment lol. 3 good movies out of 13, isnt that funny?

and this kiddies, is what is called biased fanboys who cannot accept that their precious mcu movies cannot be defeated. i bet you are one of those iron *beep* 3 apologists
shareNo, sh!t stain, you are completely wrong.
I loved Superman 1&2. Batman 1989 & Returns. I thought Batman Begins was pretty good, and I even liked MOS.
On the other side of it, I hated both Hulk movies and thought CA:CW was a little light.
But they are better than The Dull Knight and The Dull Knight Rests.
Those movies are dull to the point of being morose, as well as being filled with mistakes, stupidity, plot holes and flat out bad film-making.
Yet DC fanbois "think" they are actually good movies.
I'm a huge Batman fan, but to this day, I still haven't watched "TDK" from beginning to end and only once of "TDKR!" There's just something about them being unwatchable; some scenes like the recovery of Wang was entertaining, but the rest I can do w/o! The Joker hype was overdone IMO and I doubt it'll change for me! "Begins" I can watch over and over again; a great reboot! I'd rather replay '89, "Returns," & "BF" over the latest incarnations! Still waiting to see "B vs S: Dawn Of Justice!" ;-/

Yes I do.
I have several issues with TDK, generally based around the writing. The story is written in such a way that characters and people are "directed" rather than allowed to evolve and act in a way we would expect real people to act. This ranges from major characters like the Joker, with his implausible schemes that stretch plausibility, to the random people, like those on the boat. These directorial gimmicks ruin the film for me and I have little urge to rewatch it. It's fairly annoying actually, as the first part of the film is very good.
I'm not too fussed about the poor action that others have commented on. I'm happy to let the pass for a decent story.
In comparison, TWS just gets better with each viewing.
Both are amazing, but Dark Knight is my favorite of the two.
