A Missed Opportunity for Something New and Better
I found the ending pretty underwhelming, mainly because it felt so predictable. When Rian can't shoot the hybrid without risking damage to the shuttle, the only option left is to eject the creature into space. It's a trope we've seen before.
The hybrid baby in the movie comes across as oddly naive. If it had just kept its mother alive and stayed away from the ejection port, it could have survived.
Personally, I would have preferred a more unique twist—like a cute, humanoid hybrid baby that teams up with Rian to fight other aliens and protect his human mother. That would have been far more compelling than watching it inexplicably grow into a 10-foot monster, only to be outsmarted by Rian in such a predictable way.
