The size of that space station - nobody else saw it?

Our group in the movie notices the space station. But nobody else in the planet below was able to detect it? Is that credible?

Maybe the other miners on the planet don't have the tech or are so broken don't care outside their job and routine.

Yeah, there were a few things like that which I thought didn't make any sense.

Weiland Yutani wasn't able to detect it and send their own ship up there, somehow, but this ragtag group could?

one would think that a multi-gazillion dollar space station would be immediately retrieved and never be left derelict.
but apparently one would be mistaken..
