A budget of a little over one million...really?

Okay, I generally like this show but when you bring on a couple in their early thirties who have a budget of over a million you completely lose me. I mean I live in Southern California where houses are expensive. I mean I get it when someone has a budget of $500k and they want to live in a certain neighborhood where it's just a little out of reach for what they want. I mean what's next? "We only have a budget of 10 million, not a penny more".

I know, over a million and they can't find a home that meets their needs without major renovations? Really?

We also don't know their backstory. Did their inherit the money or did their parents give them the cash or enough for a very large down payment, I also live in SoCal and property inventory is very scarce in areas where most people want to live. In desirable communities like West LA, Sherman Oak, Pasadena, Hollywood Hills etc. there are 1500-2000 sq foot dumps that come on the market for over a million that will easily need a 200-300k remodel.

Filmed in Canada, a million Canadian equals 720,000 US.

Newer episodes are in Texas.

OK, but still. For $720,000 you should be able to find a COMPLETE move-in ready home. So maybe you need a coat of paint here and there to fit your personal color choices, but you shouldn't need to find a fixer-upper for that price.

So yeah, $720,000? $1,000,000? You just lose a lot of viewers compassion and understanding with these price tags.

I always figure that a couple in their twenties or even thirties who can buy a million-dollar-plus house had rich parents and have inherited money.

Or they work in tech.
