Could not overcome all of the negative reviews? The risk of Social Media these days?

reply

I think the negative reviews played a part for sure, but I also think an experimental film being set almost 2 hours in the entirely same place over years didn't appeal a ton to audiences either.

The same place I can see but not the same camera angle for the whole film.

It beat Megalopolis! :-)

That ain't saying much.

I'll say a few things.

First, while I was disappointed to see that the majority of the reviews were negative, I had intended to go see the film anyway. That is, until I saw several people say that the film was depressing, with one person even saying that "the characters never seemed happy." When I saw the trailer, it definitely didn't look depressing. It actually looked very upbeat and sentimental in a sweet, postive way, which is what I wanted from the film. You know, something nice, something happy. Not a film that delves into themes like infidelity and de mentia.

I also saw someone comment that the film has an apparently George Floyd-inspired scene that disrespects police officers and I definitely wasn't in the mood for that shit either.

So I passed. Instead I found out that somewhere off in the suburbs there was a theater playing Juror #2 and I happily went to see that instead. It was great!

To be fair, there was like no advertising for this movie at all.
