I can live with that. I haven't read any critic reviews, but the poor audience reviews sound like criticisms of other movies I've liked.

Perhaps you should actually watch the film before deciding it's a dud. Why let the critics do your thinking for you?

After looking at the critic response, I still think I may like the film. Two words stood out to me in the reviews I read: "sentimental" and "schmaltz." So it sounds like my kind of film. I don't understand why sentimentality is regarded by some as a bad thing. I think we need more sentimentality in our films these days.

I love this line :

"maybe if Zemeckis was aiming to show us that the world is and always has been monotonous and empty then he has perhaps succeeded."

this is what you call damning with loud damns.

I guess it's Here today, gone tomorrow.

The premise sounded interesting to me but the CGI part is a turnoff for me.

The whole premise sounded like a snooze fest. Then the trailers confirmed it for me. So much talent around and this is the result.

I think so too. "A generational story about families and the special place they inhabit, sharing in love, loss, laughter, and life." That's a yawn inducing sentence if ever there was one.

reply

My good man, when you put it that way. It sounds like a epically good, REM inducing film.
