Rewatching the MCU right now from start to finish, and the weak spots really jump out at this point, this movie definitely being one of them. A LOT of bad acting, nonsense writting, terrible CGI and silly logic. I felt the same when I got to Thor 2, but at least most people admit that wasn't very good. The sympathy given to Killmonger is so laughable and not even remotely justified. Odd how no other villain is given the same courtesy.
Exactly, word for word, what I thought when I first saw it!! I thought I was the only one!
I kept wondering, for a superhero movie with so much hype, why the CGI was so poor!
Anywho I pretty much lost all interest in superhero movies. Especially after this one.
They still make good ones now and then, but I feel this encouraged pandering marketing as a priority to a good movie, once they saw the success this brought.
The first one blew me way. I never expected to like it so much. The second disappointmented me at first, but it's grown on me over subsequent viewings.
Killmonger is considered one of the best MCU villains. I disagree with you on Black panther. I find it to be one of the stronger MCU films in the franchise. Far from perfect but then again most MCU films are not what I would consider high class art.
I disagree, this white person absolutely loved it! It's just a terrific superhero action movie, with lots of actions, a hero who's likable and admirable, a charismatic villain, spectacular visuals and great action, and just enough moral complexity to make it feel meaningful.
Everything I want in a superhero movie, my only tiny criticism is that I generally like more humor in a Marvel movie. But, the movie is so good overall, I can live without the laugh lines.
Lol, you proudly declaring you're white and how you like this movie speaks a lot to the questionable adoration this very flawed movie has. Why would that even be a part of this conversation unless virtue signaling is a factor?
The movie was designed to appeal to black audiences first, but it's so damn good that anyone of any race can appreciate it... if they aren't determined to sit there and hate it because it wasn't pandering to themselves. Like, you know, all the dickheads who love to back this movie, because it doesn't cater to them.
Love to back this movie? Why is that a bad thing, and why are you so hung up on race and this movie? It's like you are acknowledging that it doesn't hold up on It's own as a movie, so you need to attribute something virtuous to it to make it more than it is. That speaks volumes.
It's not about race, really, it's about the infantilism of the fanboys who bitch about movies like this. I don't even think they're motivated by racism, not most of them, I think they hate movies like "Black Panther" because the movie reminds them that white straight men aren't actually the center of the universe!
Seriously, that's what assholes like you seem to expect from superhero movies, and that's why you piss and moan when you see someone other than a white straight men at the center of the movie. It's the same for every movie or show starring a person of color or a woman, the pattern is obvious to everyone but you.
Again, you're making it about race, to the point that you're attacking me for not liking a movie and implying it has something to do with the color of the cast. I think Antman and the Wasp is terrible too, how can you possibly explain that when the leads are white? 🤣You've said all you need to, and I'm glad your racist bullshit is here on display for the rest of the community to see. You think you're a fucking white savior, but you only come across looking like a virtue signaling douchebag. You've also confirmed what many others already know, that there are undoubtedly a bunch of sad fucks like you that only praise this movie because you think it gains you points in the black community and in your head. Essentially, you're treating something differently simply because of people's skin color, which makes you part of the problem. You thinking you're part of the solution is irrelevant, because you aren't. Go back to jerking it while you pat yourself on the back as you fantasize how much you've helped the black community by pretending to like a shitty movie because it has their people in it. Fuckin' tool...
"not worth talking to..." yet here you are with an uneeded reply. I see the truth has really struck home with you, and you can't get me out of your head. Good, but don't ignore that nagging internal voice that is pointing out how much of a hypocrite you are. Acknowledging it is the first step to growing into a better person. I wish you the best on your journey towards being decent.
The whole family and I couldn't get into this one, switched it off halfway through. Normally we're happy to sit through super hero movies even when they're 2.5 hours long, but this one was just flat.
Actually felt like we were watching a spin off / copy of Avatar in some scenes.
