shareThe Saturn Awards don't follow the calendar year. The cut off date for the last ones awarded was Feb. 20, 2018. Black Panther was released on Feb. 16, 2018; so just under the wire. This is easily found with a simple google search.
However, the op is incorrect on some things. Black Panther won Best Comics to
Media Release. Blade Runner was not eligible in that category.
Blade Runner was nominated, and won, in Best Science Fiction Film Release.
Also, many award shows aren't "aired." That has nothing to do with their importance or quality. The Saturn Awards are the awards of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.

It is an annual award from the period of Feb to Feb. BP premiered in Feb of this year but even could have qualified for a nomination with a special screening to the Members of the Saturn Academy.

After get out got a golden globe for best comedy, it shows how little substance awards have anymore. They wanted it to win something, do they forced it to happen. Awards are nothing but social pandering today, maybe they always have been, but it's a lot more evident today.
