So it's official now: CIA destablizes countries! [SPOILERS]

I was very surprised to hear this dialogue from a character portraying a senior CIA official that they have a unit which is responsible for destabilizing foreign countries. First of all, if there is such a unit, no CIA official will admit this so frankly. Secondly, it's so strange to hear this dialogue in an American movie. Intelligence agencies in all countries are officially mandated to intelligence gathering only. Although we all know that American CIA has been involved in all sorts of covert operations around the world, but nobody would talk about it so openly.

reply

Some former CIA operatives do talk about it openly - but only RT and fringe outlets listen.

As for the mainstream media, it's actively working alongside the CIA and the rest of the gov.

reply

It's no secret. Bay of Pigs e.t.c.

reply

Yes, the CIA have always sought to destabilise regimes abroad, and assassinate etc.

Why do you think 70's spy films (and Sutherland's ''X'' character in the film JFK) allude to this?

"...if there is such a unit, no CIA official will admit this so frankly."

You do know this is a movie, don't you?

Movies are augmented reality ... not distorted reality. Wakanda is augmented reality ... a fictitious nation in Africa (a reality). But if they show black people with bamboos in Korea, that would be distorted reality. Reality should be shown as is, while you can play with the augmented reality. I hope you get my point.
