Easily the worst film in this millennium. Nothing comes close. Featuring the most disgusting character ( that you're possibly supposed to root for ) and an embarrassing ghetto robot. This is the equivalent to Cameron going from Aliens to Piranha 2. Except of course it was the other way around. This filth doesn't even deserve a .9. A sad day for movies.

I love the film, but I totally understand that it isn't for everyone. However, I do think it's odd that someone who hated it would waste so much time here with silly complaints. And any tiny bit of credibility of his is completely lost when he would say something ridiculous like "The worst film of the millennium".
Well I saw somebody mentioning Jupiter Ascending earning several Razzies and as bad as that was it at least had a great score and a somewhat exciting ending. This film has not one redeeming feature. Even Weaver and jack man are annoying. And let's not forget the most repugnant character in recent memory ( the freakish Ninja ). I absolutely love sci- fi and not always the most popular.

I however stand by my convictions how terribly made Chappie ( in every possible way )was and I was so beguiled from the
director's earlier work that it would somehow get better before the end. I was proven horribly wrong. I just cannot emphasize enough how distasteful this movie was to me.

I have to disagree with you completely about Chappie and Jupiter Ascending. Chappie at least had some heart and made you feel for the robot, even if it was just a spin on Short Circuit. Jupiter Ascending was the film for me that had absolutely no redeeming features and deservedly got Razzie recognition.

If it had a smarter plot and writing it could have been a good one. It entertained me somehow but I had to filter out all the stupidity. If it was a different genre I'm sure I would have stopped watching.
shareChappie is one of the greatest and most underrated films ever made.
It's hilarious, it's heartfelt, it has great action, it has amazing, raw and original characters.
Hans Zimmer, arguably the best film composer of this generation made one of his best scores ever. Only other ones comparable are Inception, Rush, Dead man's Chest.
Ninja might be a piece of *beep* in real life but that has nothing to do with the movie.

The movie had
• Great CGI and art direction/production design like all Blomkamp films
• Great action scenes
• A ghetto robot raised by wiggers
What's there not to like?
Funny, entertaining and great to look at visually.
If one hates wiggaz (like I do), it makes for difficult viewing ? I absolutely hated the thugs with their wannabe ghetto-ness, and their bloody annoying accents. The entire gangsta group of characters (especially that big fella who wanted money) were over-stylised and pathetic. Very much like James Cameron and his pop culture-infused "nothing but catchphrases" lock 'n load, come get some dialogue in his movies.
But I did feel for Chappie. If they'd given him some decent dialogue, he would have been quite loveable.
Hugh Jackman did a great job playing an Aussie ar sehole. I think he and the writers actually did a good job with his character. He wasn't the standard clichéd Crocodile Dundee character that the film-going American public assume we all are. The mullet hairstyle was a bit over the top though - that stupid hairstyle hasn't been commonplace since the early 1990s, even in bogan suburbs.
