Jackman, Weaver? What were they thinking?

I'll have to think twice before deciding to watch either these two actors movies again. Life's too short. Chappie is indeed Crappie.

Perhaps they were offered such a hefty paycheck they couldn't refuse?
anyway the movie was utter rubbish no matter how many pre-teens here try to defend it and give it some merit with their color-styled text which reveals their true character.
this was a new low even for this director. never watching anything comes from this guy.

I can't say no for a fact, but probably not. Chappie's budget was about 1/4 the cost of average Hollywood drivel.

I doubt many preteens understood this film any better than the average seething man-children, who try to insult the fans because they dislike a movie. . . which reveals their true character.

this was a new low even for this director.

I disagree. This wacky little B movie was a much needed "F" off to the pretentious critics who acted like he owed them something after D9. This film was a risky endeavor for the sake of art. . . . not a lot of that going around these days. . .with the support of a large studio. . . outside of Fury Road anyway.

never watching anything comes from this guy.

I'm sorry Blomkamp ruined your life with a little South African B movie, but look on the bright side. . . I can kick my feet up on your empty seat when I see his "alternate Alien 3". Thanks, man.

Well, considering how vigorously you and the other guy hovering 24/7 over these boards trying to defend this "B Movie" one would say you're either being paid to do this or just plain simple forum troll kids.

but i'm willing to give you the benefit of doubt and assume that your'e just a fan with ocd who has nothing better to do with his life, so i'm asking you to try to understand this: by attacking people who don't share your enthusiasm and trying to convince them otherwise or calling them names you're not helping your cause, believe me. you're just irritating people who didn't ask your opinion about their opinions.

Yeah, i don't get the rabid adulation i have read from some people. It wasn't a bad movie....but it had a LOT of problems. Mainly with script. It was so convoluted - character motivations, plot contrivances...honestly, i thought it was a mess.
I didn't have a problem with any of the acting (except maybe the girl who was just not very good) and the effects were top notch. But too much of it reminded me of other movies that actually did it better. Hell, how much of this was flat out stolen from Robocop?
And just too many plot holes and issues with the story and script for me to ignore.

The acting & costumes reminded me of a CBBC programme, like Grange Hill/Byker Grove/Round the twist/etc. All BRILLIANT shows, but not Hollywood Movie level!!!

I'm guessing they wanted to work with Blomkamp after District 9... Shame it wasn't as good as that (which neither of his subsequent films have been, since he went 'Hollywood') but you can't know that until after it's been made, and by then it's too late...

Sigourney Weaver was brought in to attach a big name to the film

Garry Chalk was originally cast in her role but after he filmed his scenes he was replaced by Weaver

Since when were either of these actors a sure thing at a good movie. Wolverine Origins, Reel Steel, Pan, Movie 43, Austrailia. The last good Sigourney Weaver film was Galazy Quest back in the 90's.

Also if you're picking movies based on actors then you're missing some seriously good movies with unknown actors.
