***Massive spoilers

Ryan Gosling is first billed, put on all the posters and trailers, and then killed less than halfway through. If that's not enough Bradley Cooper, Ray Liotta and two random kids carry it through. The film is marketed as Gosling starring and then completely eliminates him. And it works. Unbelievably good film that is made of 3 barely connected stories. Amazing and totally unexpected. Total risk that actually pays off. Universally underrated.

Agreed. It's a pretty ambitious movie and it accomplishes a lot by changing perspective in each act. It's a powerful story as well.

This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee.

I love it when they take these chances and end up with a really good film. Great cast too.

It's an incredible film that gets better with every view. A future classic indeed and nice to see a film deal with the theme of fatherhood in a serious manner. We don't have quite enough of that.
