That's a David O Russell movie for you. It's bad but on my 2nd watch (I despised this on my 1st watch when it was released, gave it a 3/10 ) I am intrigued more by how it was done.
shareOf all the criticisms this movie receives I think the most baffling is people complaining about not being able to follow the plot. it was pretty straight forward, I don't understand what people were so confused about.
shareI followed the plot. The plot was boring. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters and just wanted the movie to end.

shareDon't worry about it. A bit too smart for you. Really, not hard to follow at all, you just lack a few chromosomes compared to the regular, common blue collar person. I really believe a 12 year old would be able to follow the story.

It was stated in the trivia that this movie was heavily improvised by all three ensemble actors (Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, and Jennifer Lawrence). Probably just a last attempt to money grab by showcasing three of the biggest actors in Hollywood right now. Kind of like this movie is doing, conning people. Glad I am seeing it on cable and not in the movie theater.

What was so bad about the movie exactly and how could you not know what was about even after watching it? This comment makes no sense.
shareA pair of con artists (married man, his lover) are roped into committing one of their usual scams on behalf of an FBI agent who's trying to make a name for himself. Complications include the married man's wife, and the fact at least one of the targets is an otherwise honest politician.
Neither a simple "high concept" blockbuster movie plot, nor a convoluted multiple narrative story.
Rewatch the trailer if you need to. Except for the last twenty minutes of the movie, there weren't many differences between the movie and the trailer.
It don't matter who you hear it from. It's the same story.
