Word on the street is it's awful
Haven't seen it, but talked to someone who saw a screening who said it's a trainwreck. Must be why they are releasing it on Peacock the same day it's in theaters.

shareYeah, fuck this movie.
It’s Drew Barrymore and Heather Locklear with terrible 80s editing or it’s nothing.
Don’t mess with the cult classics.
I just saw an ad for this on tubi.
Why the FUCK would some cro magnon even THINK (and I’m using that word more loosely than I have ever used any word before) the Drew Barrymore/Heather Locklear classic needed a remake?
“Like a China cup.” Now and then, a line delivery by an actor who knows how to act can send a chill up your spine.
I’ll watch it on Peacock+. Then I’d piss on my home theater, except that my theater is not piss-proof.
I'm not saying the remake will be any better, but it makes perfect sense as to why the original needed a remake: it was never a classic. It's an awful movie. If anything needs remakes, it's awful movies....not good ones. But sadly this remake will probably be just as bad as the original.
shareJust based on the trailer and the poster it looks like it might be a scene by scene copy. The original wasn't amazing either but at least it was the 80's and it was a fun decade. I'm not a fan of reboots either.
shareI watched it.. it's bad. I'm not sure why but they appear to have shot it at 60 frames a second because it has that too smooth camcorder look to it, which makes it look cheap. You also have some very bad music that sounds like they asked someone to try and replicate Tangerine Dream type music from the 80's, which was crap ass movie music in the 80's and has only gotten worse over time.
SPOILER:
It then gets real stupid by the end where you have the little girl that has fucking killed people left and right not kill the bad guy that killer her mother and then go off in the sunset with the killer of her mom... What the fuck kind of an ending is that which simply ignores everything that has happened before... For the dumbass ending alone the movie is a turd... but it is bad enough prior to that, that I could never recommend it to anyone. It's just bad.. from the crappy cinematography to the bad special effects, I think I've seen better halloween vampire blood in a dollar tree than the red liquid they used for dad's bleeding eyes.
Bruh, you need to be careful about dissing the music. John Carpenter worked on the soundtrack!
I thought the music was one of the few things about the film that was actually noteworthy and interesting.
Didn't pay attention to who wrote the music, but that does explain why it sounded like they ripped off Halloween for the music during the credits at the end of the movie. And while Carpenters music in the 80's was good, he never seems to have progressed much as this music was poor compared to his earlier work.
sharePer Wiki:
"The score was composed by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies, who previously collaborated with Blumhouse on Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021). The score was digitally released on May 13, 2022 by Back Lot Music and on LP/CD and Cassette in October by Sacred Bones Records."
And I'll agree that his style hasn't changed a lot, and will even agree that this isn't his best work, but I still thought the music was cool, especially the track that plays during the opening credits.
Frankly, the music would probably seem cooler if it were in a cooler movie. Carpenter's music in what basically feels like a made-for-network-TV King adaptation gets dragged down by the mediocrity of its surroundings.
You lost me at 'You also have some very bad music'. John Carpenter is very accomplished at writing soundtracks.
shareDoesn't matter how good a composer was in his prime, if he gets too old and starts just repeating old music in a bad way it is bad. Go listen to the end credit music on Google and you will see it just sounds like a bad rehash of Halloween
shareI haven't heard the OST but I'll jump to your defense Thomas.
People on here saying it can't be bad because it's John Carpenter are clowns. I guess every film he directed was flawless too?
Composers, directors, writers, actors and so on can all have poor showings. Especially when they're in their mid-70s and are some 3 or 4 decades removed from their creative peak.
This clown has heard the soundtrack. And It's pretty dammed good.
shareYou probably weren't familiar with his earlier work or you would have realized he was basically copying his old shit and making it worse instead of better.
shareYou probably weren't familiar with his earlier work
Wrong! But thanks for playing. Best not to post comments based on assumptions you have no evidence to support. Makes you look like a clown.
I just saw it. I can't recall a lot about the original but it seems with this one it did get super stupid. It's like they just didn't know what to do with it so they figured they would blend X Files with Marvel.
shareMust be awful...although who really was looking forward to this?
shareIt’s not very good which sucks because I really enjoyed the original and the book was pretty great too.
It’s just a middling Hollywood remake, not awful, just sort of ‘whatever.’
