Taking Bets on How Many Episodes Before They Cancel

I saying 5 episodes

Look, they kept THE (NON) EVENT on for a whole season and this has more potential for successful overseas sales and distribution, which may keep it on for the year. It's expensive to produce, which argues for early cancellation if the ratings remain flat, and the endless bleating of 'MAD MEN RIP OFF' will subside once PAN AM premieres and starts to take some of the same heat.

By the way, rip-offs and derivatives are the bread and butter of Hollywood production (on the big screen as well as the small), so that's hardly sufficient, in and of itself, to prompt cancellation. I wouldn't be surprised if NBC shifts around its time slot to try building some sort of audience before giving it up. Meanwhile, its main competition right now is the successful reboot of an actual 60s series, HAWAII-5-0. What's that say?

I wasn't comparing opening numbers, I was comparing potential for overseas distribution and how that might affect its playout. THE EVENT plummeted almost immediately; with such low numbers, PLAYBOY can really only improve or stay flat. Good call on CRUSOE, though. Which also had overseas potential but was simply too expensive to continue producing to warrant a full season.

In The Playboy Club's defense many, many people felt the first season of Mad Men was slow & uninteresting... Personally, I was hooked from the first episode of MM & I have some interest in TPC, not as much as MM but it could become a good show.
I feel the same way about Pan Am as well.

I don't feel like reading what everyone else replied...

But serpentsage, Eddie Cibrian is credited with 6 episodes, so I'm gonna say 6.

P.S. you should read my thread on this show =)

2 episodes tops... this was very poorly done and tanked in ratings.
If it was of good quality, perhaps they wait, but this and CHARLIE'S ANGELS will be 2 and done

And I'm not just hating. I love Amber Heard and was hoping this would be great for her

NBC will do what they usually do with dying shows. Replace its time slot with DATELINE or another SVU rerun and fill it in on some Fridays/Saturdays until they pull the plug. Based on the atrocious ratings for the first episode: I say 3-4 episodes. "CRUSOE" and "KINGS" stuck around a little while. They aired the episodes already paid for, but there's no way that they will make any more.

im guessing 8 episodes. i was around when mad men first started but i hated the tempo and immediate lack of anything compelling toward advertisers and their affect on society. i see the same tempo and style in this ultimate fail. i dont know what to care about or who to care about on this show. unknown leads and a few known supporting cast lets me know that everyone involved knows what this is crap and will fail soon. not much invested. hefner just regained control of Playboy this year and i think he called in a favor. 8 episodes

Looks like 2.

PLAYBOY CLUB HAS BEEN CANCELED. There are six episodes slated for the season. They've already aired three. Whether the last three episodes will air or not, who knows.

Saw on Yahoo(UK) it says it'll air till Oct. 31st so guessing the other episodes will air. It's just an ok series, but not one that really keeps my interest.

Prime Suspect repeats will air in place of TPC until Oct. 31, which is when Rock Center (Brian Williams's new show) will begin to air on NBC._____~ I close my eyes lost in a memoryJust like a candle in the wind ~

A large local radio station in NYC reported today that The Playboy Club will end after three episodes although the third should have been last night and it didn't air.

The first show drew only 5 million viewers and the second declined significantly.

I'm disappointed not because it is a great show but just because I hate it when any show I'm watching gets cancelled in mid season. Like never finishing a book. I rarely drop a book even if it isn't very good.

So the OP loses!
The show is cancelled after three shows.

So why don't extras get their names in the credits?
