the importance of the black box (spoilers)

Even after the US killed (assumed) Jalal Haqqani they are talking about how the black box could stop the pending war between the US and Pakistan. How would it change it now? The US already violated Pakistan's space. Saul and Carrie originally wanted the black box to show that Jalal didn't shoot down the helicopter to stop the strike. Now, by showing that Jalal did not shoot down the helicopter doesn't change the issue now at hand. It may make it worse. The only thing it can do now is stop Carrie from being convicted as a traitor. I predict that Saul is going to convince her to agree to take the conviction for the good of the country and to keep his Moscow asset in place. At this point, that is more important than Carrie's freedom.

Good point. Jalal definitely ordered the car bombing and would be wanted by the U.S. even if the black box disproves a shoot down. Pakistan won't care about the shoot down, they were threatened by the U.S. President and like you said the U.S. violated their air space.

Nice try. They did not kill Haqqani. The end here was so convoluted. I am sad to see this series ending. No one wants war except the far-right wing dude with the hyper-macho beard.

Zabel was such a childish snot. Would have loved you have seen him be fired or at least reprimanded for trying to mislead the country to war. Unfortunately ppl like that do exist. Steven Miller comes to mind.

In the finale, I thought the Russians might double-cross everyone by manipulating the recording to make seem like the helicopter was shot down and not brought down by mechanical failure.
