Margot Robbie will star in Disney’s female fronted ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

This smells like disaster. I don't think the bosses at Disney realise that Depp IS and always was the franchise. Even if they make a good movie, I doubt it will be well received simply because people will miss Captain Jack. If they're smart, they'll bring Depp back in at least some form. Not talking a cameo (as that would just look insulting towards the chartacter), but having him in a proper supporting role. Something that will get him an "and Johnny Depp" in the end credits instead of an "special apperance by Johnny Depp", if you get my meaning.

Apparently two POTC films are in development. The one with Robbie is separate from this one.

just because she is/was the flavor of the month or do they really see that she would make a good pirate.
