Where are the people of color in portlandia?

Someone did a study once and determined that there were more murders in episodes of Inspector Morse than actually occurred in Oxford, England, over the 10-15 yr run that the series was filmed. Similarly, per capita, Cabot Cove, Maine, where "Murder She Wrote" was based, is the most deadly town in America.

If you're offended at the way blacks are portrayed on television, I can completely understand that. But if you're offended by the number of black people on television, then that's analogous to asking where all the white people are in the NBA.

I will say Portland isn't as diverse as it could be, but its way more tolerant than most major cities I have lived in or spent time in. But at the same time its all about location. Its extreme diverse if you go to N and NE Portland. We also have a very strong Arabic population in SW Portland. Aloha and Hillsboro also have a very strong latin community. I am also guessing we have a higher percentage of people from Asian ancestry than other major cities (Seattle, SF excluded). In the end though a city is an identity that you relate to and in ways reflects your views, beliefs an ideals. YOU ONLY WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU ARE OPEN TO ALL RELIGIONS AND ESPECIALLY NON BELIEVERS AND A TOLERANT PERSON. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT QUALITY CRAFT BEER IS. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU ARE PART OF 1% of 1% of people who actually know anything about Marijuana. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU WANT CLEAN AIR AND CAN DRINK TAP WATER. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOUR COMMUTE FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER IN THE WORST TRAFFIC ONLY STILL TAKES AN HOUR. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU WANT TO BE 90 MINUTES FROM THE MOUNTAINS, OCEANS, RIVERS, FORESTS, DESERT, ETC... YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU HATE PAYING SALES TAX (ALTHOUGH OUR PROPERTY TAX IS HIGHER GIVE AND TAKE AT LEAST WE DONT HAVE ASTRONOMICAL HOUSING PRICES). YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU APPRECIATE LOCAL FRESH FOOD WONDERFUL COOKED WITH PASSION AND LOVE THATS ALSO CHEAP. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU LIKE SMALL MUSIC VENUES AND CLUBS WITH INTIMATE SETTINGS. YOU WANT TO LIVE IN PORTLAND IF YOU LIKE STRANGERS STRIKING UP CONVERSATIONS OR LENDING A HAND OR JUST HAVING PEOPLE WHO GIVE A *beep* THAT THEIR ARE PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET. Where are the white people in every BET show EVER :p,

They're on all of the remaining networks (like NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, AMC, HBO, SHO, etc) taking up 99% of all the cast and crew...you ASS.


White people using BET - i.e. ONE NETWORK as an excuse to dominate 99.9% of programming is a sad and insulting. And the reason WHY it's called BET (Black Entertainment Television) is because the creators wanted to advertise to the small black US audience that there was now a station where they could see THEMSELVES on a regular basis - not as pimps, hoes, criminals, poor, or tired stereotypes which is pretty much what every other network portrayed them as when they would feature them...Something to be proud of because lord knows white America wasn't going to do it.
