'Radio Silence' will not be directing Scream VII. Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) in talks to direct.

Oh dear.

It seems Paramount are looking for Scream VII to go ahead pronto and Radio Silence are busy with their Universal movie.

There are also many rumors that they're struggling to schedule Jenna Ortega, she's a busy bee these days and her calendar is all booked up. Seems likely she could end up getting written out or perhaps killed off early in the movie (means she will only have to spend a short time on set).

I HATE Christopher Landons movies, he's a real dick and fart joke merchant, his humor drives me up the wall!

The filmmaking team known as Radio Silence (V/H/S, Southbound, Ready or Not) brought Ghostface back to life with hit sequel Scream back in 2022, and this year they returned to the director’s chairs to continue the saga with Scream VI. The franchise’s sixth installment was another hit at the box office, ensuring that a seventh movie won’t be far behind.

While Scream VII hasn’t yet been officially announced by Paramount and Spyglass, we can confirm that it’s definitely in the works. We’ve also been paying close attention to the recent rumors that Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett won’t be back to direct Scream VII, and that Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) may take over.

How true are those rumors? We’re told Radio Silence was very interested in directing Scream VII but unfortunately they’ve been busy with their upcoming Universal Studios monster movie, which was recently filming under a shroud of secrecy. The mysterious project doesn’t yet have an official plot synopsis at this time, and it doesn’t even have an official title.

It’s likely that with the Radio Silence team focusing on their Universal monster movie, the scheduling ultimately just didn’t work out for them to return for Scream VII.

As for the Christopher Landon rumors, Bloody Disgusting has heard that Landon has indeed been in talks to direct Scream VII, and we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

The weird thing is that apparently the Universal monster movie is what is causing issues regarding Radio Silence being able to direct Scream VII.

Here's the thing... Melissa Barrera is the lead in that movie! So could they have some problems scheduling her too?

It's rumored to be 'Dracula's Daughter'.

someone's name is "Radio Silence"?

It's a group name.

Scream V & VI were directed by two of the members of Radio Silence. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

oh, thanks

I like Christopher Landon's films, so I would definitely be on board with him directing the next Scream. I hope they kill off more main characters in this one.

Amazing. I hope it's like his absolute masterpiece, Happy Death Day 2, but I know that'll filter Slasher fanboys all over again.

Would rather see "Happy Death Day 3" instead. Let 'Scream" go for awhile.

I'm not happy about this. I think Radio Silence has been good, and I'd hoped they'd be more long-term. At least do one more and sort of close out their own story/trilogy. Landon hasn't done anything to interest me. And Radio Silence convinced Neve to come back for 5 because of their love of the first four. So without them it might be even harder to bring her back. This is just a bummer.

I enjoyed both Happy Death Day movies, so if there has to be a change of director(s) I'd be okay with Landon.
